There are several ways to replace the pump. Features of this process depend on the manufacturer of the device, and, therefore, the location of the part in the housing of the washing machine. The task is not only to correctly install the new unit, but also to do this by removing the least amount of parts. But first you need to finally make sure that the problem is precisely in the pump, a sign of this is a strange noise and water remaining in the tank.
The most common problems are bearing wear or leakage in the cochlea. In both cases, it will be necessary to dismantle the pump.
Unplug the machine and turn off the water supply using a tap. It is also necessary to drain the remaining water in the tank. In most models, a deep tank should be installed under the bottom before starting work.
Removal through the bottom
This method applies to most models. First you need to turn the device to the side. The angle in which the pump is located should be on top for convenience; if this is not the case, it is recommended that you turn the machine again.
After dismantling the cover plate, unscrew the screws, it is better to photograph the pump position before dismantling. Loosen the clamps of the nozzles, now water will flow from them, substitute the container. Next, disconnect the wires.
You need to clean the place of dust and dirt, then you can install a new pump in the washing machine. To do this, you must perform the above steps in the reverse order: connect the wires, install the hoses in place, tighten the clamps with a wrench, then tighten the screws, securing the pump to the casing.
Note! The cochlea can be fixed in different ways (screws, clamps, latches) depending on the model. Make sure that all the fasteners are made securely, otherwise it is necessary to disassemble the structure and assemble it back until this condition is met.
Finally, you can replace the cover and return the machine to its original position.
Pump replacement through front or side wall
The application of this method does not give any advantages, it is used only in cases where the bottom is not removed or through it there is no access to the pump. These design features have brand washing machines:
- Bosch;
- Siemens
- Hansa;
- AEG;
- top-loading models from other manufacturers.
During the replacement process, it will be necessary to disassemble a significant part of the device, which is much more complicated than the previous method. For this reason, if the owner is unsure of his own abilities, then you should not try to replace the pump at home, but contact the service.
It is better to photograph all stages, the pictures will serve as an instruction when assembly is required. The only plus is the vertical position of the device.
To remove the wall, you will need to loosen the clamp and disconnect the cuffs. Then you need to remove the dispenser and then dismantle the cover by unscrewing the bottom screw. Access to the pump is blocked by a shutter; it is necessary to open it. Next, unscrew the filter and drain the remaining water.
In general, manipulations with the pump are similar to the previous method, with the only difference being that access to the necessary elements is more difficult. Pay attention to the fastening of the nozzles, if they are held by latches, then you do not need to make rotational movements, this can only damage the clamp.
Be careful when working with wires. It is necessary to inspect the contacts for oxidation, especially if the motor is broken. If present, cut off the ends of the contacts and strip out new ones. It is imperative that the electrical connection to the new pump is identical to the old one, otherwise the unit may burn out.

Removing the rear panel
The process of replacing the pump itself is similar, so the differences are only in dismantling the back wall. This is required for Zanussi, Indesit and Electrolux devices.
You can detach the back of the chassis by removing the top panel. After loosening the mounting, you need to move it back, and then unscrew the screws on the back cover, they are located on the top and sides. Do not forget to document each action so that there are no questions during assembly.
To check the correctness of the work performed, rinse should be started, if the water drains, and at the same time there are no unusual noises or increased vibration, then the replacement was successful. In the event of any problems with the placement of component parts or the appearance of "extra" parts, you do not need to turn on the device, disassemble it again or consult a professional.
