The washing machine flows from below: reasons and how to fix the breakdown with your own hands?

When buying a washing machine, everyone wants it to work for a long time and efficiently, with a minimum of maintenance and repair costs over the entire life cycle. However, sometimes the purchased unit presents the owner with not entirely pleasant surprises. Often during washing or during spinning, the owner notices a puddle accumulated around the machine. What is the reason?

Hose leakage

Let's start by inspecting the hoses. One of the most common causes of leaks from under the washing machine is the impaired tightness of the inlet and outlet hoses in the connecting places. To solve this issue, disconnect the hoses and replace the o-rings.

If the washing machine flows from below, it is possible that the drain hose is damaged as a result of deformation or mechanical stress. It is necessary to solve the problem by sticking the breakdown place with a rubber patch and special glue. However, it’s better to just buy a new one, because the old hose is already quite worn out and there is no guarantee that a new leak will appear again from under the washing machine a week later.

Dispenser failure

If the unit starts to flow immediately when water is drawn, the dispenser is most likely defective. It happens that the powder does not completely dissolve and clog the metering grid. It happens that dirty water during washing leaves deposits and impurities on the walls of the hopper (the hopper of the dispenser is a tray where powder is filled). Finally, the inlet valve may leak due to strong water pressure.

To eliminate the reason due to which the washing machine flows, you need to get the dispenser together with the hopper and thoroughly clean them. After cleaning, put them in place and turn on the device. We monitor the level of water pressure - we do not allow excessive pressure. If the washing machine leaks, as before, the intake valve must be changed.

Cuff leakage

When washing things, owners often forget to remove various small items from their pockets. Sometimes objects that seriously damage the cuff when washing can come across. Such cases are not uncommon, therefore, the problem of leakage of the door cuff is quite common.

If the washing machine is leaking, check the door cuff for leaks. Water can leak from both the outside and the inside. With a small leak, you can solve the problem with a rubber patch and waterproof glue. The patch is made simply - from an unnecessary piece of rubber. After repairing the damage, the cuff should be rotated so that the damaged area with the patch is at the top. This action can reduce the load on the cuff during washing and increase its service life. In case of large damage, it is better to replace the cuff with a new one.

Tank nozzle and intake valve malfunction

If the washing machine flows, a possible cause may be a broken connection between the nozzle and the tank. To find out if this is actually so, it is necessary to conduct a visual inspection of the tank. If the place at the junction of the tank with the nozzle is wet, then the reason that the washing machine is leaking is precisely this drawback. To solve the problem, disconnect the pipe and dry it. We put the pipe back into place and fix it with waterproof glue.

If the washing machine leaks due to a leak in the intake valve, remove the top cover of the washing machine and replace it. Unfortunately, this problem cannot be solved with sealant or glue.

The problem is in the drain pipe

In the event that water leaks from the bottom of the washing machine, a leaking machine tank may be a problem. For inspection, it is necessary to put the machine so that its bottom is visible. Use any light source, carefully examine the bottom for signs of water. If traces of leakage were detected from under the washing machine, the tank must be replaced.

Stuffing box failure

It periodically wears out during operation and requires replacement. To understand whether the stuffing box is really the case, try to twist the tank using mechanical action with the machine turned off. If at the same time you hear extraneous noise and rattle, it is necessary to change the damaged seal and bearings. Inspect them and replace in case of heavy wear.

Flowing pipe

Sometimes the washing machine flows from below due to leaks in the connection of the drain pipe. It is located at the bottom of the washing machine - at the junction of the tank with the drain pump. If this defect is found, eliminate it using waterproof glue.

Also, one of the reasons why the washing machine flows is a malfunction of the pump (drain pump). At the same time, the pump must be replaced with a new one; it cannot be repaired or restored.

Tank is leaking

In some equipment, the tank consists of two components that are connected to each other using fasteners. Between these parts is a rubber seal, which may not fit snugly or wear out over time. Because of this, a leak may form and must be repaired immediately. To replace the seal, you will have to disassemble almost the entire unit. Fortunately, such a breakdown happens very rarely.

The appearance of water during the spin cycle

If water appeared during the spin cycle below, the tank may be overfilled. The device undergoes serious mechanical vibrations during the spin cycle, so water can spill up. Carry out a comprehensive inspection of the possible causes of failure, replace the seals and bearings and re-check the operation of the unit during the spin cycle.

1. First of all, if a washing machine flowed, it is necessary, without stepping on a puddle, to turn off the unit from the electric current network. If this cannot be done without touching the water with your feet, turn off the electricity on the distribution switchboard.
2. Turn off the water supply to the washing machine.
3. Take out the laundry. If a leak was detected from below during an incomplete wash cycle, drain the remaining water from the unit through the drain filter.
