How to choose candles

In fact, it will not take a lot of time to decoupage a candle, even for beginners it will be enough for one hour.

It is best to choose thick candles for decoration, ideally white. The high density of the upper layer of the candle will greatly simplify your work, and it’s also convenient and practical. The fact is that when the candle will be used for its intended purpose, and not just for decoration in daylight hours, it is the outer thick layer that will not allow the decor to heat up, which means that it does not get damaged.

For decoupage, you can use thin candles, however, to use them for their intended purpose, in this case, it is necessary to be especially careful, because they quickly heat up. Small drawings with notes on taper candles look very romantic and elegant.

Equipment

Work requires napkins for decoupage, they can be bought in specialized stores even individually. You can print the drawings yourself, just use a laser printer. You can find a ready-made collection of drawings for decoupage.

There are three techniques in total: cold, hot and using a hairdryer.

Materials and Tools

In addition to candles in the required quantity, napkins, a ruler, scissors, a hairdryer, a stationery knife and a brush are required. Remember that there are three layers on special napkins for decoupage, the drawing is applied only to the top of them. To increase safety during operation of such candles, the bottom two are best removed.

The napkin is applied to the candle, and then it is heated with hot air from the hairdryer until sticks, sometimes gently help with your fingers so that the adhesion of these two surfaces occurs faster. If any wrinkles appear on the napkin, then they should be smoothed with a brush. At the base of the candle, it is necessary to make an incision in the napkin, and then gently bend it, near the wick, excess paper is carefully cut off with an office knife.
