Choosing a site for planting

Since Ixia refers to representatives of southern plants, accordingly, for its disembarkation, it is necessary to select an illuminated area with sufficient moisture. Despite the high humidity, the ground should have good drainage, excluding the stagnation of water. Before planting the plant, the selected area is dug up and fertilized with humus, in case of creating a more loose earth, sand is added. Heavy soil is by no means suitable because it has an adverse effect on growth and flowering. It is also desirable to fertilize it:

  • 300g of wood ash;
  • 70 g of superphosphate;

Plant is propagated by means of bulbs. Before planting, you should pay attention to the bulbs were dense and did not have any damage. Seedlings are placed in the ground for the most part in mid-May, but if the soil is sufficiently heated, it is possible to plant before the specified time limit.
