Cracks and holes in polycarbonate occur due to temperature changes or mechanical damage. Avoid such situations will not work, as polycarbonate is a brittle material. To seal holes in polycarbonate, you can use adhesive tape, silicone sealant, rubber patches, insulation tape. To eliminate the holes you may need a piece of polycarbonate. The necessary tools include scissors, a cutter, a brush, a hairdryer, a saw and an emery cloth.

Temporary sealing

Cracks can be sealed with clerical tape. To do this, the necessary piece of material is applied at the site of damage, carefully smoothed. For better adhesion of the adhesive tape with polycarbonate, a hair dryer is used that melts the edges a little. Tightness prevents water from getting under the adhesive tape and peeling it off. But still, this patch is temporary, since the adhesive tape dries up and loses its stickiness due to the effects of temperature.

For a longer result, use an insulating tape that does not go away when the adhesive dries. But such a patch will not provide tightness, so the effect of rain is disastrous for it.

Thorough repair

Tightness and durability will provide a liquid nail, which is useful for sealing cracks and small holes, it is easy to cover joints and damage. After drying, the material becomes hard and durable.

Punches are best removed by patches made of polycarbonate or a durable film used for greenhouses. The material is cut with a margin of 2-3 cm and is fixed to rubber glue. So that the surfaces are firmly bonded, they are treated with sandpaper, and then glue is applied.

An alternative is a self-adhesive film, which can be used to repair large damage. It is not susceptible to temperature and moisture. Wear and tear resistant.

To repair greenhouses, you should not try to melt polycarbonate to bond it with patches. The material has high toxicity and flammability.
