Roman curtains have been used in interior design for several years, however, it has been recently that they have become most in demand.
Since now more and more apartments are decorated in the style of minimalism, Scandinavian and the like, congestion in the window area is unacceptable. Roman curtains are compact in size, do not create excess volume, do not distract attention with unnecessary details. Of course, their design and color may be different, but it is these properties of the classic version that are so attractive to buyers.
Practicality is achieved through a special design. The standard Roman curtain consists of: textile or non-woven fabric, slats that fix the folds, lower weight straps, pockets for slats and a lifting mechanism. You can move the curtains either manually or using the electronic remote control. Typically, the "Roman" reach the windowsill, and with the maximum raised position form a lambrequin.
There are 3 types of such curtains: classic with even folds on the rise and a flat surface when lowering; frameless devoid of transverse slats, with folds sagging in the center and cascading, in which even in open form there are voluminous folds.
All of them have significant advantages:
- Depending on the design and material harmoniously fit into any style;
- They have a universal mount suitable for sash windows, window openings, walls and ceilings;
- Suitable for both small rooms and rooms with a large number of windows, where the abundance of ordinary curtains looks ridiculous;
- Safe for small children and pets who like to play with regular curtains.
Day-night models are suitable for those who are used to two-layer curtains. Both canvases, light transparent and dense, usually dark, are controlled independently of each other.
The disadvantages of such curtains are insignificant. Opening and closing the window is possible only with the curtain fully raised. To avoid this inconvenience, it is enough to fix the "roman" on the folding window. To lower and raise such curtains is a little longer and more difficult than usual curtains. It happens that in the process you have to correct the folds.
Roman curtains help out those who prefer functional minimalism and turn a window sill into a table, sofa, wardrobe. At the same time, "Roman" with original decor can be an excellent decoration of the room.
