Builders of the recent past still remember the difficulties of installing a roof with pouring bitumen materials. Constant heating of the mixtures was required, followed by a laborious operation to level the surface.
Today, it is possible to isolate the roof of any building much faster and more solidly, and new roll products contribute to this. The first number of this type can be designated glass isol, whose properties are far superior to conventional characteristics.
Glassisol Characteristics:
- Biostability - resistant to decomposition and decay under the influence of sunlight;
- Durability - the service life of this material is 15-20 years. The operational possibility may be more, it depends on the design of the roof;
- Water resistance - a good result is due to a double waterproof coating;
- Strength;
- Good sound insulation.
The basis of glassisol is fiberglass high-density weaving, impregnated with compositions of petroleum bitumen. Components from mineral additives make this material completely inert with respect to liquids, temperature extremes, and smoldering.
Excellent elasticity makes it possible to cover mixed and difficult types of roofs and other structures that require enhanced waterproofing.
The presence of fiberglass gives the material a low flammability, and accordingly, it is safe and meets fire safety rules.
The service life is significantly increased due to the use of sprinkles with large fractions. It protects the material from various mechanical influences, mitigating the attacks of hail and rain.
Where is glassisol used
This material is used as waterproofing in the installation of roofs of various geometric configurations. It is also used for waterproofing reinforced concrete structures, storages of various kinds and production shops.
Stekloizol is necessary at the device of the buried tape foundations. It is widely used in the construction of ventilation shafts, basements and pools.
It is used in the construction of bridges, bunker chambers and other structures where soil water poses a real danger. In private homes, glass insulation is used as an intermediate insulating layer between the roof and the ceiling. In addition, it is also used for waterproofing glaciers and cellars.
Methods for coating glass-isol:
- The inner surface is heated by the burner, then the roll is laid out on the surface;
- Stekloizol cover with mastic and produce flooring;
- Parts of the material are fixed to the surface using appropriate fasteners.
The mechanical method of the device for glass insulation is almost not used, because the integrity of the material is damaged.
With any method of laying this material, it is necessary to overlap the canvas. For a better fit and gluing to the surface, on the outer part of the glass insulation there is an edge without sprinkling, 8 cm wide.
It must be remembered that the glass is installed at an outdoor temperature above -15.
