Repair is always a difficult and painstaking process. The landlord always wonders: “What materials are best to use?”. When building or replacing floors, there are two options for flooring. The first classic option is the laying of a wooden coating made from edged boards.
It is worth noting that covering from edged boards is not always the best option when building or replacing the floor. The main disadvantages of this coating are:
- Overpriced materials. The high price of quality solid wood makes the buyer think about purchasing it.
- Costs of additional protection. In this case, there is a need for additional protection of wood, i.e. coating it with a special varnish. If you ignore this condition, then your coating will quickly erase and lose a presentable appearance. In addition, as you wear out, the paintwork will need to be updated periodically, which means additional costs. There is another way out - painting the floor. However, there are disadvantages here. If you paint a wooden coating several times, then due to the accumulation of layers, cracks and chips will form. The paint will simply fall off in pieces and will have to completely replace the wooden coating.
- Insufficient sound insulation. A wooden edged board practically does not absorb sounds, so steps will be heard throughout the house.
- Deformation of the wood coating. After some time, the tree will begin to deform. This happens due to the fact that edged boards are very “capricious” and react to any climatic changes. Sudden jumps in temperature will lead to compression and expansion of the boards, and this, in turn, will ruin the coating. It is due to non-compliance with climatic conditions of operation that the creaks of the boards arise.
- Weak fire resistance. As you know, the tree burns very well, so the fire safety of this coating leaves much to be desired. In order to reduce the flammability of the boards they need to be coated with a special varnish, which costs a lot.
- Poor moisture resistance. The wooden floor will have to be protected from moisture, as the boards absorb water well, and this can lead to their deformation and decay.
All of the above shortcomings can slightly affect the decision of the owner to install a wooden coating of edged boards at home.
