When looking for glue for laying tiles, many questions may arise. There are quite a lot of adhesive mixtures on the market. If you calculate the glue consumption correctly and select the desired product option, you can save money by getting the desired result. Tile adhesive can be cement, dispersion or epoxy. Each of the options has its own characteristics.
Epoxy adhesive
This is the most expensive version of tile glue, so they are rarely bought for domestic use. In some cases, the cost of glue may be comparable or even superior to the cost of the tile. High price - payment for the fact that over time this version of the glue does not crack and does not shrink. It perfectly resists low temperatures and moisture, is considered the most durable.
Epoxy glue becomes indispensable in places where there are high loads and vibration. Also, this option may be required if the surface is exposed to a smooth surface. It can be used both indoors and outdoors.
Dispersion adhesive
More affordable option than epoxy adhesive. When using it, the costs will be one and a half to two times less. But at the same time, dispersion compositions still remain expensive and not accessible to everyone. This option is optimal when laying tiles on surfaces subject to deformation, since the hardened mixture has a high degree of elasticity. It is not necessary to pre-treat the gypsum surfaces with a primer when using dispersion adhesive for tiles.
Such glue comes on sale in finished form. It freezes and sets quickly. For the facing of painted surfaces, dispersion compositions can be used, they are good resist moisture, but it is not recommended to work with their use if the base concrete.
It is worth remembering that only a professional builder can determine how much dispersion and epoxy compounds are really necessary. Most often, expensive options are chosen in highly specialized situations, if it is impossible to use a cheaper analogue for some reason.
Cement based adhesive
The most common option, which can be considered to some extent the standard of the construction industry. This is explained by the fact that such glue has decent parameters, but it costs the least. Finishing with its use will cost twenty times cheaper than using epoxy glue.
