For the modern owner of the real estate who is planning to renovate, a huge selection of diverse materials is presented. One of them is flock paint. It is a mixture of colored synthetic flakes (flocks) and varnish. Flakes can be either one-color or full of a variety of palettes. They come in square, round and asymmetric shapes. All this greatly affects the result obtained as a result.
Flock paint has such positive qualities as: water resistance, aesthetics, wear resistance, durability and environmental friendliness. In addition, the material is considered universal, as it can cover walls, ceilings, columns and even doors.
The staining process requires tools such as:
- Fur roller;
- Brush or spray gun;
- Flocker or air gun.
Before you start painting the surface, you should carefully prepare the work surface. This includes procedures such as: removing the old coating, degreasing, leveling and priming.
In no case should you use flock paint on an untreated or not completely dry surface. The coating will not connect properly, and all efforts will be in vain. In addition, the processing of loose materials, particles of which have the property to crumble, is also not allowed. The degree of hardness is checked previously by cleaning the surface with a stiff brush.
Flock paint is not recommended for use on walls that have fine dust particles, such as powder, whitewash or chalk. The flock coating in this case will quickly begin to fall off.
There are two ways to apply the material:
- The surface is covered with a water dispersible composition. It will mix with floc flocs and manifest through varnish.
- The surfaces are covered with glue and only then with the help of a pneumatic gun flock flakes that are buried in the glue mixture are applied to the non-hardened surface. After a few hours, the treated surface hardens and is subject to repeated application of the varnish layer.
The disadvantages of flock paint include vapor impermeability, which prevents the surface from receiving air. Therefore, such a room must necessarily have good ventilation.
Flock paint is a versatile wall decoration material that can be applied on almost any previously prepared surface.
