How to glue ceiling tiles without errors

Gluing a simple foam tile to the ceiling is easy. Such work is within the power of even beginners to repair. The main mistake is to glue the tiles immediately on an unprepared surface. If the ceiling has an old finish, it must be completely removed. The presence of cavities, cracks, large drops is unacceptable. You can remove all defects with putty. Then the surface is coated with a primer. Then the tile will better cling to the ceiling.

If the tile is not aged before gluing for a couple of days in warmth and dryness, then excess moisture may remain on it. Such a tile will shrink on the ceiling, which means that cracks will form.

You can’t start work without first turning off the lights. An error when sticking tiles with the chandelier on can be expensive.

In order for the work to be successful, you also do not need to glue the tile on the unmarked ceiling in advance. It is necessary to find its central point, which will determine the course of sticking.

Many do not pay attention to doors and windows, especially when the room is hot. All of them must be closed, as a draft will cause the tiles to fall off the ceiling.

Carefully choose glue. It may not be suitable for any particular tile. It’s a mistake not to read the instructions where it is written, how to apply glue to the tile, and also what places to handle especially carefully.

When working, you must ensure that all tiles are in contact with each other tightly. If the ceiling is uneven, gaps will inevitably form. They are immediately sealed with white sealant. Excess glue must be removed immediately, since after drying it will be difficult to do.

A very common mistake is pressing the tiles with your fingers. If it is too soft, then dents will inevitably remain. Press the tile using a wooden beam.

Errors are often made when cropping. Trim the tile at the very edge of the ceiling so that the gap between it and the wall is minimal. An excessively large gap will then be difficult to close with the plinth.

If the tile will then be covered with paint, then it is not recommended to do this without a primer. Paint can be applied on top in two layers.
