Art Nouveau style appeared at the end of the 19th century and immediately became widespread in Europe. Each country gave its style a name: in America Art Nouveau is commonly called Tiffany, in France it is called Art Nouveau, in Germany it is called Art Nouveau, in Austria it is called Secession, etc. For that time, modern, which means "modern," introduced new trends into interior design and architecture.
This style has its own distinct features:
- The abundance of wooden elements. The main distinguishing feature of Art Nouveau is the complete absence of artificial materials. The most affordable and most convenient for arranging the interior is wood. Wood can be used wherever you want: window frames, wall panels, furniture, fittings. The most commonly used wood is ash, beech, oak and other hardwoods with a pronounced structure. Sometimes it is also allowed to use stone and metal.
- The absolute rejection of any straight lines. Often in the decoration of both the interior and the exterior, rounded geometric or floral ornaments without sharp corners are involved.
- Refusal of symmetry. Any symmetrical shapes and patterns are not allowed.
- Natural motives. Very often in modernism there are plant and animal ornaments and patterns.
- Stained glass. They can decorate anything: from windows to glass lampshades. Again, the stained-glass window pattern can be of a plant or animal theme.
- Windows tending up. The arched or semi-arched shape of the windows is also one of the hallmarks of the style.
- Doors The following requirements are provided for the doors: shape - rectangular or arched, material - wood, no convex decor, preferably the use of double doors, the use of stained glass is encouraged end.
- The stairs. A prerequisite for the stairs is wide steps, forged railings with openwork ornaments.
- Colors. Art Nouveau has its own recommended color palette: shades of brown, pearl, black beige, silver and wet asphalt. Be sure to use the above colors in pastel, muted colors. For contrast, it is advisable to use fuchsia, red and yellow in small quantities.
The best for decoration are medium and larger sizes, for example, a studio apartment or an apartment with a non-standard layout.
The most important thing in the interior of the Art Nouveau style is an accent item, under which everything will be adjusted. Caution is necessary, because the interior will seem incomplete if the color of minor objects interrupts the accent. For example, if you need to focus on a multi-colored window stained-glass window, it is worthwhile to complete all the rest of the room in one or two colors of different tones.
The resulting interior will become more voluminous, there will be a feeling of additional space and airiness. Properly used color palette and natural motifs will give the room a romantic touch.
