The Scandinavian style of interior (or simply “Scandi”) is becoming increasingly popular. The undeniable advantages of this direction in design are that the embodiment of scandi interiors is often quite affordable and simple in practice.
If we talk about the design of the bedroom in the Scandinavian style, it is impossible not to note the attractiveness and convenience of such rooms. Typically, the room is a thoughtful and functional space, but at the same time very comfortable, perfectly fulfilling its main function - rest and relaxation.
Room decoration
Common to all Scandinavian interiors is a fairly simple decoration, lack of elaborate details, and versatility. Classics are walls painted in light colors. Sometimes a technique is used with the highlighting of one contrasting wall, or decoration with paper wallpaper. The floors are most often wooden; laminate and cork are also often used.
Bed selection
A bed in a scandy interior can be almost any. Using the classic version of wood, you can create a calm laconic bedroom. Fans of unusual solutions can easily add rather extravagant options to the interior, for example, beds with bright upholstery or with a metal frame. This creates a unique interior with a share of eclecticism.
Natural wood furniture is the most popular solution. The best choice is the simplest design, in basic shades. You can add individuality to the space with the help of textiles: bedspreads and decorative pillows allow it’s interesting to beat the interior, make it cozy, which is characterized by the simplicity of lines and a minimum of decorative elements.
Wrought iron beds are popular due to the sophisticated appearance and airiness of designs.
Often in scandi bedrooms they also use very minimalistic solutions, for example, beds without headboards. This option is played out by highlighting the contrasting wall behind the bed and using a variety of textile accessories.
Beds with a soft headboard look cozy and comfortable. Upholstery material is used differently: genuine leather or suede, eco leather, textiles, gunny, velor.
Decisions with the use of antique beds purchased in antique stores or flea markets also look bold. Furniture can be slightly updated, to give it a more modern appearance by coloring. This decision looks outstanding, the bed becomes the center of the interior, its main emphasis.
Furniture in the bedroom: what to look for
In addition to the bed in the bedroom, depending on the size of the room, have a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables. If the dimensions of the room are quite modest, and do not allow enough furniture to be placed, you can use hinged structures - shelves, drawers. You can place them directly above the bed or doorway.
Instead of classic bedside tables, chairs are often used, or wicker boxes, old chests, small wooden stools.
Ideally, the Scandi bedroom should have enough space to store clothes, bedding, and rugs. Modern furniture stores offer many solutions for organizing storage systems.
