Often, when outwardly the chair ceases to satisfy its owner, it is thrown out. This usually happens due to a shabby seat or a little crumpled legs. However, almost any thing can be restored, thereby giving her a second life.
First you need to prepare the tools that you will need to restore the chair. They are:
- a piece of foam;
- varnish;
- paint (if you need to paint the chair);
- piece of plywood;
- piece of sanding paper;
- glue;
- fabric (which one you like).
You will also need a stapler, which is useful when creating a back and seat. After all the tools are ready, you should inspect the chair and understand whether it will be necessary to disassemble it, or whether it will be possible to do only with external restoration. If the chair looks pretty good (does not stagger, does not creak, etc.), then the first thing you need to thoroughly get rid of dust and dirt (it is best done with a detergent and a hard brush), after which it should be sanded and varnished (you can do this before paint).
If the chair is already staggering, then you need to disassemble it, and then number each of the parts, so as not to confuse it later. It should turn out about 12 parts. The chair should be disassembled carefully so as not to damage the already old wood. After all the parts are ready, you need to wash them as well, then dry them thoroughly, as the wood does not tolerate water and chemicals.
While the parts are drying, you can start creating the seat and backrest (if they are in poor condition). To do this, take the old plywood (which was the base of the old seat) and attach it to a new piece of plywood. Using a pencil, you need to circle it along the contour, and then cut a new seat base. The resulting piece of plywood should be placed on the foam and cut the corresponding piece as well.
The next step is to put the previously purchased fabric face down, and then place foam and plywood on it. Tighten the fabric evenly so that the seat is not crooked. Use a stapler to attach the fabric to the bottom of the seat. In the same way, the back is restored (if it is soft).
After all the parts have been restored, you need to start assembling the chair. To do this, it is best to use glue and screws. Any furniture glue will do. When the chair is assembled, you need to put a heavy object on it (about 10 kg) and let it stand for about a week, which is necessary for the glue to completely dry.
