In the summer of 2017, we became the owners of a two-room apartment with a spacious kitchen, located in a house near the metro station. We purchased housing in the secondary market, and it became clear that we just can not do without repairs. We started with the arrangement of residential premises, since the budget after the purchase of housing was very limited.

The two-room apartment had an old repair, linoleum lay on the floor, and the walls were papered. In the kitchen there was an old electric stove and a small amount of furniture, which allowed us to hold out for some time. Only a year later we took up the design of the kitchen, while the main task that stood before us was to preserve the free space to the maximum.

It was important for us that even after the installation of new furniture and kitchen appliances there was a feeling of spaciousness. The kitchen area is quite large, 11 squares. The shape of the room is successful, it allowed us to turn around and create an area convenient and functional. Moreover, initially I vaguely imagined what in the end we would like to receive.

Since we did not yet have experience in carrying out repairs, I began by looking at pictures on the Internet, studying what kitchen interior design is, what options exist. There was a very noticeable lack of available funds for the furniture and appliances you liked, and there was no money for the services of an experienced designer. Therefore, all the details had to be thought out independently.

We started by removing the old tiles from the wall, which was previously considered an apron. The tile fell off directly with pieces of plaster, had to allocate funds to align the wall. Otherwise, you can simply forget about the beautiful and fashionable skin. The photo shows what condition the walls were in after removing the coating.

Almost all the interior design work was carried out independently, with the exception of stretch ceilings. They decided to entrust this important matter to specialists, they were afraid not to cope on their own. This option was not chosen by chance, I heard that when flooded by neighbors from above, they restrain water perfectly, floors, walls and furniture do not suffer.

We purchased repair materials on the construction market. For a long time they could not decide which material to use for finishing the floor. The choice was between laminate, linoleum or tile. Our apartment is located on the ground floor, so we decided that with tiled floors will be too cold. And making a warm floor system is too expensive.

It was not possible to find high-quality linoleum suitable for us under the interior, so we bought a moisture-resistant laminate - a great choice even for placing a kitchen. I really liked him, and after some time, I did not regret my choice. Too bad we didn't put it everywhere.

Vinyl wallpaper on a non-woven basis was chosen light, this allowed to give the space additional lightness and airiness. In general, light colors make the room more spacious, and we achieved this effect. A light milky shade was diluted with a colorful pattern on one of the walls.

However, when choosing a print, we did not compare how the selected shades are combined. Therefore, it seems that the wallpaper is very different, as if they are from different collections. As for questions about maintaining cleanliness, vinyl wallpapers perfectly tolerate wet cleaning. It is sometimes worth rubbing the surface with a cloth, and they are again like new. The dirt is rubbed off easily.

The hardest thing we had when choosing kitchen furniture. We decided to purchase a quality set so as not to change it in a few years. Therefore, on an individual project, we ordered it from an individual entrepreneur. We immediately decided on the color - white. Convenience lies in the fact that the location of the lockers can be changed countless times.

For me, as for the hostess, it is very important that there is a large and comfortable work surface and enough storage space. Therefore, they opted for a corner headset, otherwise, after installing the equipment, there would simply be no place for dishes and supplies. The angular model made it possible to create a long work surface and observe the rule of the working triangle, I am very pleased.

Working, side surfaces, skins are made of chipboard, the surface under the tree looks spectacular, the facades are made of acrylic. It may seem that white surfaces are completely impractical, but for half a year of use, the doors remained snow-white. Their care is small, and the white color gives a feeling of spaciousness and lightness. The kitchen always requires attention, it’s easy for me to maintain cleanliness.

The lifting mechanisms and closers installed in the cabinets are very convenient, there is a cargo mechanism in the extreme cabinet, which allows efficient use of space. I am glad that there is a lot of storage space, today there are still free shelves. Some of the upper shelves are open, which visually unloads the space, making it easier.

The door handles were chosen the most ordinary, I considered different options, but it is the ducts that look elegant and do not attract much attention. The headset is just like I dreamed. Not for nothing that I leafed through catalogs with furniture a thousand times.

Kitchen appliances purchased via the Internet, all gadgets and appliances of Belarusian production. The induction hob, dishwasher and oven are built-in, a built-in cooker hood is installed above them, it is hidden in the cabinet and therefore even invisible. True, I had to buy special dishes for the stove, but I do not regret the choice, it is a pleasure to cook on it.

They put the microwave in the cupboard so that it was not in sight. She, like the refrigerator, moved with us from the old apartment. A small cabinet is located above the refrigerator, it is very convenient to store all sorts of little things in it. Thanks to our master for advice, it was he who suggested using this space to good use.

The two-section sink made of black stone looks strict and elegant. The small section is great for defrosting food. In the tone of the sink purchased a mixer. Sometimes it seems that the black color is too prominent, the sink, the oven and the frames for the sockets could be made less bright, it would be possible to maintain neutrality in the situation. The sink was installed in the corner, for many it seems too uncomfortable. But it was important for me to properly use the whole place. In addition, I’m already used to the angular arrangement.

The working surface is illuminated by LED backlight. It is possible to adjust the brightness remotely and choose a color, the husband jokes that you can safely arrange gatherings with light music. A switch and two sets of sockets were installed on a working apron-skinhead. Since there are many kitchen appliances, and all are in use, spare sockets will never be redundant.

I could not imagine the dining area without a sliding round glass table, the color repeats the tone of the headset facades. There is always enough space for guests. Chairs at first glance remind office, but they are very comfortable. The color of the chairs and curtains repeats the coloring of the waves on the wallpaper, which allowed to give the interior a sense of integrity.

The door to the kitchen was absent initially, we did not change anything. I liked the idea of ​​designing a free doorway, it seems to be wider and there is no sense of separation of space. The husband made platbands from milky boards. At first, we worried that the smells of cooked food would fall into the rooms, but a powerful range hood helped solve this problem.

It took enough time to repair, in three months we managed to create a kitchen that everyone likes for its practicality and convenience. The combination of white with wood decor looks elegant and easy, strict handles give the interior a stylish look reminiscent of the interior of Northern Europe. The kitchen set does not look too massive due to open shelves.

I love my kitchen, which we fully decorated with our own hands. Here ideas that are close to me are embodied, I do not pretend that we did without artistic flaws. But I think the main thing is that our whole family is happy with the result, and spends time here with comfort.

We also managed to save, in total, about 350.0 thousand rubles were spent on repairs. We spent approximately 50.0 thousand rubles on surface finishing and building materials, the kitchen set cost 135.0 thousand, the design of the dining area - 35.0 thousand rubles. We spent about 100.0 thousand rubles on the built-in equipment.
