Toaster, although a simple device, but from time to time you will have to deal with its maintenance or repair. For this, you may need:

• tweezers, it can come in handy for removing springs and holding fasteners.

To diagnose the operation of the electrical part, you need a multimeter (tester). Of course, there should be an instruction manual at hand.

Repair and maintenance work should be started by disconnecting the device from the network. And only after that you can begin to disassemble the case. After eliminating the defects that have arisen, the body must be assembled and you can begin to prepare toasts.

Important! unnecessary details should not be! this is not a joke, if a screw or an installed lock washer is not screwed into place, sooner or later they will cause the toaster to fail!

You can find a toaster in almost any kitchen. Structurally, it consists of only a few details:

• toast holders;
• latch;
• Control block;
• heating elements;
• crumb tray.

How it works

After pressing the handle of the slider, the holders are lowered, with bread sticks inserted into them. At the same time, the heating elements are switched on.

As a certain time has passed, the relay is activated, the heaters are turned off and the spring is activated, lifting the holders up. Toasts are ready.

The main malfunctions of toasters and their causes

Crumbs

During the preparation of toasts, crumbs fall from the surface of the bread. At first glance, there is nothing dangerous in them, but as they accumulate, they can interfere with the normal operation of the moving parts of the toaster. On top of that, crumbs can cause a fire.

Important! all work on the maintenance of the toaster and its repair can be carried out only after disconnecting it from the network.

All produced toasters are equipped with pallets where the bulk of bread crumbs accumulates. Pallets can be retractable, folding. Practice shows that at least once a week the pallet needs to be cleaned. To do this, you can use a brush or a soft rag.

Depending on the frequency of operation, crumbs accumulate in the housing, for this you need to put it on its side and with the same brush gently sweep them from the inside of the toaster.

Important! You cannot shake, let alone knock the toaster on the table surface. there is a risk that the heating elements may break.

The toaster does not turn on

There may be several reasons for this - malfunction in plug or fuse, to eliminate this defect, it is necessary to check the correct connection of the plug and, if necessary, replace the fused fuse.

If this does not help, then it is likely that there is no electricity in the mains. That is, the circuit breaker could work. In addition, a break in the cord is possible, it is quite possible that it will have to be replaced.

Bad contacts

One of the reasons for the malfunctioning of the toaster can be either loose or burnt contacts. If solder joints are used in the toaster, it is better to entrust the work to the specialist in the workshop to eliminate this defect.

Oxidized or burnt contacts must either be cleaned or replaced with workable ones. The plates with the latches turned on must be closed and there is no point in bending them to improve contact.

Toasts don't toast

If everything looks normal and the toasts do not fry, then this may be caused by malfunctions in the heating elements, and correctly this can only be done by a specialist from a workshop for repairing household appliances or by breaking a board management. By the way, its breakdown can often be accompanied by the smell of burnt plastic.

To clarify this issue, it is enough to remove the case and inspect it. Burnt elements are immediately visible, but how much will the cost of replacing them be? In fact, maybe buy a new toaster?

A burnt spiral is also visible and it is better to replace it in the workshop.

In case of toast burning, there are two possible reasons:

• maybe it makes sense to change the cooking mode;
• it's time to remove the crumbs from the toaster.

They can be caused by the fact that the thickness of the toasts is too large and this interferes with the movement of the holders. By the way, too thin toasts can also interfere with the movement of the holders. Such toasts can warp and stall the mechanism.

The most common cause of failure of mechanical things is the same breadcrumbs. They can stick to the guides or directly to the mechanism itself.

To gain access to the mechanical components of the toaster, you will have to disassemble it. There are models in which it is enough to remove the side panels and gain access to the mechanisms, but in some products you can remove the entire case. Therefore, before proceeding with disassembly, you must carefully inspect the case and understand how to disassemble it. By the way, the handle of the slider that controls the movement of the toast holders can be removed either separately or together with the casing, this also applies to the button that commands the roasting.

After the interference is eliminated and the mechanism works without interruptions, the toaster can be assembled.

Security

During repair and maintenance work, simple safety precautions must be observed. Before servicing or repairing the toaster, it must be de-energized.

It is necessary to constantly check the condition of the cord; it must not get on the heating elements or in water. In some models, the casing has a place for laying the cord and it is advisable to put it there after making toasts. If there are small children in the house, then after use it is necessary to clean the device in a place inaccessible to them.

By the way, sometimes housewives inadvertently put next to this appliance, bread, packed in a plastic bag. Under the influence of temperature, the packaging can melt and spoil the bread, or get on the toaster body.
