  • work gloves;
  • respirator or cotton-gauze bandage and safety glasses;

  • scotch tape (or other adhesive tape options).

Stages step by step

It is important to consistently adhere to the application technology in order to obtain a reliable and durable result. We will tell you more about all the nuances of the work.

surface treatment

Surface finish

  1. We use a grinder or a drill with a special nozzle to completely remove the old layer.
  2. Then with sandpaper for rough application (with large grains) we carefully clean the bath from the remnants of the previous layer. An additional option would be heating the areas to be cleaned with a construction hairdryer and processing with an office knifeif previously applied enamel is not a factory type.
  3. We clean and wash off the particles of garbage, apply a sanitary detergent over the accessory area, distribute it with a sponge and wipe everything, including the place where the overflow was located.
  4. Rinse the product again and leave to dry.
  5. Then pour soda over the entire area, thoroughly rub it with a coarse-grained skin. This manipulation is necessary. for degreasing. It is carried out with gloves, up to a maximum of 3 times.
  6. The accumulated debris should be washed thoroughly with a water jet.
  7. We dismantle the drain, overflow and siphon, treat their areas with soda, then wash off the particles. Mixer and shower unit need to cover with tape, secure with adhesive tape. The action is carried out to avoid the penetration of liquid on the future layer.
  8. The wall above the bathroom and the shelves are wiped off with dust with a rag, because acrylic for the period of solidification should be reliably protected from any particles.
  9. Dry the container prepared in this way with a hairdryer, special we pay attention to the sides between the product and the wall (it is better to dismantle them for the period of repair), cement joints, where accumulation of liquid is possible.
  10. We look through the design for damage (cracks, etc.), the detected defects can be quickly eliminated by car putty. We apply the mixed mass with a rubber spatula and allow time to dry.
  11. The dried mixture is treated with a fine-grained skin, with a vacuum cleaner we remove the formed particles. In this area (and overflow areas, siphon) apply acetone, he will ensure degreasing.
  12. We cover the floor under the plumbing and tile at the joints with paper or film, fix it with duct tape. The procedure is carried out so that the polymer does not harm them.
  13. Place a jar (or a plastic bottle with a trimmed top) under the drain. An excess of flowing consistency will flow into it.
acrylic coating

Important! After all actions, the bath should be rough to the touch, this will provide better adhesion to the new surface.

How to prepare the composition?

Before the procedure, leave the components in the room for several hours.

  1. In a liquid substance in strict portions (100% of the base should account for 0.95% of the additive), gradually pour in the hardener. The mixture is carefully brought to uniformity using a drill with a whisk.
  2. Stirring time is 10 minutes. Look so that polymer fragments do not remain at the bottom and in the corners. Carefulness will help to avoid the unevenness of the future layer.
  3. We leave the prepared composition for 20 minutes. We need a plastic bottle (or glass) to pour the solution.

Coating

Work rules:

  • filling is carried out from top to bottom, around the perimeter of the product;
  • first we process the part adjacent to the wall, then the outer rim;
  • the mass flows in a thin stream, the thickness of the coating is up to 5 mm;
  • it is desirable to use a spatula, with its help the surface is well impregnated with the applied material;
  • when the layer is completely applied, we use a tool to make zigzag movements at the bottom of the structure, then level the area, moving smoothly from walls to the drain;
  • leave the product for a few minutes;
  • turn off the lighting and a flashlight inspect the coating for defects (defects, smudges), eliminate them with a spatula;
  • wait about 10 minutes and re-check the result.

Important points

  1. Complete treatment will require a minimum of 2 rounds of pouring.
  2. The finished acrylic mixture may contain air bubbles. They are removed with a hairdryer (at minimum speed), you need to work quickly.
  3. The mass retains flow properties for a certain period (indicated on the packaging), before its completion, the restoration must be completed.
  4. It is not recommended to heat raw materials, it loses viscosity and just drains down. Restoration takes place at room temperature.
  5. It is allowed to add color paste to the solution, which will give the layer the necessary color. Its permissible content is within 3% of the total weight.
  6. All stages are carried out. with gloves and a protective bandage (or respirator).
  7. The finished product can be used after 1-2 days, however, the drying time is determined by the characteristics of the specific composition. If acrylic of new brands is used, this period is only 16 hours.
  8. Room necessarily closes for the period of drying.
  9. Plumbing is recommended to be washed with liquid soap, dishwashing detergents (free of aggressive substances) or specialized substances regularly, after each use.
before and after

After completing all the steps in a consistent and high-quality manner, you will get coverage with excellent performance that can last up to 10 years. This will save money and extend the life of the bath.
