A kitchen faucet is used daily and problems with its operation are common. To carry out repairs or complete replacement of the device, it is necessary to dismantle it. Read on how to do this correctly.

Before proceeding with the disassembly, we will prepare the main tool and auxiliary items:

• wrenches - are selected depending on the size of the clamps of the crane (common options 10, 11, 22, 24);
• adjustable wrenches (at least two);
• screwdriver (Phillips or regular, determined by the shape of the fixture of the crane);
• cutting tool (grinder);
• flashlight;
• a bucket for collecting water;
• rags;
• chemicals (kerosene, universal grease);
• technical knife.

How to remove the faucet from the kitchen sink

Consider the sequence of operations.

We shut off the water supply valve to the mixer. The remaining liquid flowing from the pipelines will be drained into a bucket. We put rags on the floor - they will come in handy if an accidental leak occurs.

Reference! The valve device can be located at the entrance to the apartment, located separately in front of the kitchen or directly under the washstand. In the latter case, we do not recommend closing this component only, because in the process you risk accidentally moving your hands to open it.

To stabilize the pressure in the pipes, open the tap.

Dismantle the old device. To do this, unscrew the nut located at the bottom of the sink and fixing its body. As an option, plumbing can be attached using 2 side pins, we work with a screwdriver with them.

We remove 2 hoses - hot and cold water supply leading to the mixer, using keys 22, 24, and unfastening the union nuts.

There are nuances for working with a washbasin built into the kitchen table. The design will have to be dismantled (in cases of poor visibility we use a flashlight):

• inside the cabinet we unscrew the nut fixing the tap on the countertop;
• remove the siphon - these structurally different devices have a nut - unscrew it, freeing the lower part of the plumbing;
• an alternative to the previous step is to remove the corrugated tube from the sewer pipe, which is less convenient to do;
• disconnect the water hoses;
• if there is a layer of sealant on the sink, remove with the blade of the knife that part of it that prevents manipulation;
• inside the cabinet there are bolts that fasten the countertop and the washstand together, we disconnect these elements (to find them, consider the inner surface of the cabinet);
• lift and turn the washbasin over - a fixing nut is discovered, we work with it with 2 adjustable spanners, on both sides.

Reference! Over time, old equipment may become rusty, scum, and salt scale, which will make disassembly difficult. Use kerosene or the universal drug WD-40. Abundantly impregnate the problem area with the cloth applied to the rag. Wait up to 15 minutes and try to unscrew the unsuitable element. In cases where the device to be dismantled is not planned for further use, use a grinder - use it to cut the valve body and retainer.

We strictly follow the order of work, in order to avoid unpleasant consequences, for example, flooding of neighbors.

Dismantling a kitchen faucet is not a difficult task. For work, you must first prepare the tools and materials, then sequentially perform the dismantling actions.
