Imagine the situation: you urgently need to wash a thing, and the laundry detergent in the house is over. What to do in this case and is it possible to replace the powder with something? Let us turn to the national, and not only national, experience.

What can be used for washing instead of washing powder

At home, the following remedies can help restore clean and fresh clothes:

1. Toilet or laundry soap. Before use, it must be ground. To do this, grate the soap on a grater and place it inside the drum of the washing machine, pouring them underwear.
2. Soda ash. This useful remedy has many uses in the household. It is especially suitable for washing cotton and linen. The tool will not only allow you to remove dirt, but also a little bleach the fabric. To do this, just set the temperature to 50–70 degrees.
3. Mustard Powder. Put 50 grams of the product in the drum. Wash at 40 degrees (with more heat, mustard may lose its quality). After such a procedure, the laundry will not only become clean, but will also smell fresh.

4. Salt. For washing, draw water into the basin (while measuring its amount) and place the clothes in it. Then wring out the linen and set it aside for a while. Dissolve enough salt in the water at the rate of one tablespoon per liter of water. Now place the soaked laundry in the solution and let stand for an hour. Then rinse it in clean water.

Reference! Before using the soap, you need to determine the hardness of the water. To do this, dissolve a little soapy chips in a glass of hot water and wait for it to cool completely. In hard water, the soap will settle on the bottom with flakes, and a film will appear on top. You can soften the water by adding a couple of tablespoons of ordinary baking soda.

How to make a liquid washing powder yourself

Home remedies can be used for continuous use. They are much more environmentally friendly than washing powder, they are not so aggressive and cause less harm to the washing machine. There are many folk formulations for washing.

The simplest is made on the basis of laundry soap. In addition to it, you will need washing soda and borax. The mixture is made of them in the following proportions: 2 parts of soap, 1 part of soda and 1 part of borax. For one wash cycle, 125 ml of this mixture is sufficient.

Attention! When using this method, add a glass of wine vinegar to the rinse water: it will help to better wash the soap from the clothes.

A solution of soap root (raw materials for it can be prepared independently or purchased at a pharmacy).

To wash one kilogram of dry laundry, you need a decoction made from 0.5 liters of water and 50 grams of root. Soap root is poured with boiling water and infused for a day. Use such a solution only in fresh form.

Instead of soap root, ground horse chestnut fruits can be used (while removing the brown shell from them).

For washing, pour the chopped chestnuts with hot water.

Other means:

1. A decoction of beans, which is made from 200 grams of grains and a liter of water. You should strain it through cheesecloth into a basin. Stir with hot water until a foam forms, and you can start washing.
2. Wood ash. This tool was also used by our distant ancestors. For washing, ash should be wrapped in gauze and placed in water. Soak for a while, so that the alkali from the ash goes into the water, then remove the gauze - and you can start washing.

For this method, ash should be without impurities, that is, it should not contain synthetic combustion products.
