Every printer owner, sooner or later, will be faced with the need to replace cartridges in their printer. And unfortunately, not everyone knows how to correctly and safely replace this consumable item. In fact, there’s nothing complicated in this task and, following simple rules, you can easily, do all the necessary manipulations with your own hands to return to full working capacity to the printer.

- Replacing a cartridge in an inkjet and laser printer: what are the differences
Before you start replacing a cartridge, you need to understand if there is a problem in it. For this, there are a number of key features:
- The color saturation is lost - the ink on the paper looks faded, and the borders become a little blurry and uneven;
- Skipping of lines begins - on the top or bottom of the sheet, the effect of unprinted corners appears. The print looks very dull or completely absent;
- The effect of light stripes - on the sheet visible light stripes throughout the sheet. This is the most common sign, when the ink starts to run out, then you need to change them;
- Notification on the display - if your device uses cartridges with a built-in chip, then often these elements are equipped with a sensor that will tell you when the ink will come to an end.
If you notice one of these signs, then this is a clear signal about the need to replace printing elements.
IMPORTANT. Before starting work on replacing any other elements in the printer, allow the machine to cool for 5-10 minutes. The ink nozzle, especially with laser printers, is very hot for operation. And if you do not let it cool, then you can accidentally get serious burns.
Also, before starting work, it is recommended to remove the watch and bracelets, so as not to accidentally catch on the internal elements.
To remove the cartridge, first turn off the device and allow it to cool. Then it opens the lid to gain access to the internal elements and consumables of the device. After gaining access to the inside, you need to find the consumables themselves. For some reason, they automatically leave, for the convenience of users. If this does not happen, you must carefully carefully slide the carriage into the service position.
To disconnect the cartridge, first check for additional mounts. And if any are found, click off these clips. Then, gently pull the cartridge toward you, toward its center. He should effortlessly detach from the carriage and drive along the built-in rails.
IMPORTANT. If the cartridge is jammed, do not try to pull it out. Such actions can permanently damage the carriage, which will lead to complete damage to the printer. To resolve such damage, take the printer to a specialized service.
To remove a cartridge that has already been detached, gently grab it by the protruding portion and place it in a container or bag. This process should be done especially carefully so as not to accidentally stain clothes or surrounding objects.
Preparing a new cartridge
Before you begin installing a new cartridge, you should check whether it really fits your printer. To do this, check the following points:
- Originality - often when ordering from unverified stores, you can get a fake for the original consumable item. It will probably even work, but the quality of the ink will definitely be lower than that of the original products. And the use of such a cartridge can lead to leakage of ink or clogging of the nozzle.
- Compatibility - the manufacturer produces many printers and inks for them, respectively. But every time to make new ink cases is unprofitable and the same cases are used. This leads to the fact that even if the cartridges look the same, this does not mean that they are compatible with the printer. In order to reliably establish compatibility, it is necessary to verify the markings on your old and new components.
- Integrity - even when buying a new and original item, marriage can occur, and this also needs to be monitored. If the pigment liquid container is not tight, it may leak or dry. Which will lead to more serious damage to the device.
Install a new cartridge in the device
After removing the old and checking the new consumable component, you can proceed with the installation. To do this, place the new one in the grooves on the rails, and then gently slide it in until it clicks into place. And if there were additional fasteners, then they also need to be fixed.
Install the consumable item without much effort. If you try to force an element into it, then you can damage the mounts and make it impossible to continue using this carriage. You need to push strictly in the center. Otherwise, the cartridge may stand up incorrectly and will not work properly.
Replacing a cartridge in an inkjet and laser printer: what are the differences
The differences are primarily in the devices themselves. The inkjet uses pigment ink, which is fed to the sheets through a special nozzle. In laser, powder is used, which, under the action of laser beams, melts and integrates into the paper structure.
There are also inkjet printers with a refill ink function. This allows you not to buy a whole cartridge, but only jars with the necessary ink.
In other cases, all the differences are reduced to the shape of the carriage and consumables. The replacement process will be almost identical.
