What are the reasons

The most common of these is poor contact with the video signal loop. This can be a deformation in the socket or connector, as well as internal damage to the wire due to its kink or mechanical stress (for example, pets can bite it). Try connecting another cable to the monitor, if the defect is gone, it means the wire needs repair or replacement. It also makes sense, if possible, to try connecting to another monitor, this may reveal problems with the socket or other reasons listed below.

Some viruses can affect the color rendering settings, knock them down and reconfigure the settings so that the colors do not display correctly.

The reason may be in the video card, or in the operation of its driver. Sometimes a defect may appear due to the fact that the video card is not inserted accurately into the slot.

Less often, this may be a malfunction of the screen's control board, in which case a periodically completely disappearing picture may be added to all other problems.

The most serious problem is the failure of the electrodes to power the pixels of the monitor matrix. Unfortunately, in most cases this leads to the need to buy a new monitor.

What to do?

Depending on the reasons, there are the following solutions:

• as already mentioned, the problem with the loop is solved by simply replacing it, it usually costs quite a bit;
• if the problem is in the settings, go along the path "Desktop Properties" - "Advanced" - "Color Management", and check the settings of the drivers for the video card and adjust the sliders yourself in such a way as to adjust color rendition. To save time, you can search the Internet for options for standard parameters for your type of computer or select a reset to factory defaults;
• if the cause of the distortion of the video card, remove it from the slot, then insert it back.
