It's no secret that playing computer games using the keyboard and mouse is not always convenient, and even more so if it is a wired device. Constant binding to one place interferes. And if you take into account the fact that game consoles are most often used together with TVs, it is not particularly convenient to sit near a large screen, while straining your eyesight. That is why wireless gamepads have gained particular popularity.
However, often the console refuses to recognize joysticks when connected wirelessly. What could be the reason for this? In fact, there may be several reasons:
- The gamepad does not work;
- USB ports do not work.
How to fix the problem
Check the performance of the gamepad. Before you start messing with the console and look for malfunctions in it, we will check whether the joystick itself works. The fact that the power indicator is lit on it when it is connected to the console does not mean that it is serviceable. The light comes on when current is supplied to the controller. The only verification option is to connect to another device. In the event that the gamepad is determined on the test device, then the problems should be sought in the console itself.
Checking the USB ports. Modern joysticks to consoles are connected via USB. Two types of connection are possible: via cable and air. With an air connection, a connection via Bluetooth is used. But in this case, working USB ports are needed, because the adapter needs to be connected to them.
To test them, you can simply insert any USB flash drive. A non-working port and a USB flash drive are not recognized.
If you have a wireless joystick, then it is likely that the bluetooth module could fail. Connect the joystick cable via USB and check. A similar port is available on all wireless joysticks, since with it it is charged and it is also possible to connect through it.
If, by connecting the device with a cable, you will see that the console has detected it, it means that the wireless module is faulty.
It remains to find out exactly where this module is faulty on the gamepad or on the console. If possible, connect another wireless device, such as headphones, to the device. If they are not detected, then the module is faulty on the console.
If you are good friends with a soldering iron and the warranty period at the console has already expired, then you can solder the module yourself. If you are not confident in your own abilities, then it is better not to take risks and contact a service center. In any case, the amount of repair will be lower than the cost of buying a new device.
Having bought a new game console, you can very quickly ensure that it stops working properly. It is enough to drag the joysticks everywhere behind you, throw them anywhere or try to spill coffee on the console or gamepad. Therefore, if you want the device to please you for a long time, then after use, clean it carefully out of the reach of children and pets.
