We can say that we live in the world of digital technology. Around us there is a huge number of gadgets, electrical appliances that make our life better. Most of them are powered by the network. However, some devices are battery powered. This is a simple battery, but it is thanks to it that watches, toys, remote controls and much more work.
Moreover, there are such a huge number of types of them that sometimes you start to get confused in all this diversity. Today we would like to talk about two of them: AA and AAA. We will compare the two batteries and tell you what are the differences and similarities between them.

This marking designates finger-type batteries. The diameter of such a product is no more than 1.5 centimeters, and the length is about 6. The body is made of metal.
Reference. As a rule, the metal is durable for expensive elements, while for budget options it is softer.
The mass of this battery varies from 14 to 24 grams, depending on the chemical source (salt is lighter). The capacity indicator also depends on this factor. In saline it is usually 1500 mAh, in alkaline it is 2900 mAh.
Reference. AA batteries have been around for over 100 years. They were first introduced to the world back in 1907.
By the way, the first option has a lower price and can be used in light frost. However, if the temperature drops below -5, then performance deteriorates.
AA batteries are very popular as they are used in various devices. They owe their name (finger) to their small size, which coincides with the middle finger. The official names are AA, as well as R6 and LR6.
Duracell stands out among the brands. The products manufactured under this trademark are the most popular, as they are distinguished by their increased capacity and service life (as the commercial says, "they work up to 10 times longer").
If we talk about rechargeable batteries, then the Panasonic Eneloop is worth highlighting. They hold a charge even after numerous recharges.
Reference. However, not all budget options are as bad as advertisements for Duracell and Energizer batteries tell us. There are also good options among domestic manufacturers. Among others, it is worth highlighting "Cosmos". Despite their low price, they are distinguished by their high capacity and long service life.
Features of AAA battery
The second name for these batteries is "little finger". This name is also due to the size of the element (diameter is about a centimeter, and length is 4.46 cm), since its length corresponds to the length of the little finger. The cell weight is about 12 grams and the voltage is 1.5 V. It is important to note that the manufacturing method greatly affects the weight. For example, even seemingly identical devices may differ by 1-1.5 grams. The productivity of AAA salt batteries is 540 mAh, and 1200 mAh alkaline ones.
Typically, this battery is used in small devices that have low current consumption. For example, remotes, toys, cameras, etc. Chargeable cells can be recharged. Such a battery will cost more, but its lifespan will pay off all the costs.
When buying AAA batteries, it is better to give preference to nickel-metal hydride cells. Since they hold a charge better, they retain their properties even in frost. The market leader in this group is PANASONIC ENELOOP. Its products can withstand more than 2000 recharges, so they can last 5-7 years.
What do batteries have in common?
These batteries have some things in common. First of all, this concerns the voltage - in both cases it is slightly more than 1 V. It is also worth highlighting the service life. In each, it is quite long (provided that it was not a budget device that was purchased, but a more expensive option).
They also differ in their affordable price: some of the most expensive batteries will cost 100, maximum 150 rubles. In this case, you will buy a battery that will last quite a long time.
Important! Budget options from our Chinese neighbors have a lower price. However, their service life can sometimes be limited to 1-2 months, even in the remote control.
What is the difference between AA and AAA batteries
First of all, the difference between AA and AAA batteries is in their size. The first option has large dimensions. Each of the options is used in certain devices, which means that it is impossible to replace one with another.
The next difference lies in their capacity - in fingerlings, it is slightly higher.
As we can see, each food element has its own characteristics. However, we can say one thing with complete confidence: without AA, AAA batteries and other formats, our life would be a little different.
