By type of construction and installation

  • Suspended. This type is one or more (two or three) shades, which are fixed on a chain, cord or string. Such a lamp is suspended from the ceiling, as the name suggests. Usually the length of the cord can be adjusted according to the height of the room's ceilings. Plafonds are most often made of plastic, glass, there are also fabric and paper options. A variety of design options make this look versatile, suitable for the decor of any kitchenette.
Pendant lights
  • Ceiling. This option is best suited for a kitchen with low or stretch ceilings. Such a lamp is attached directly to the ceiling, so replacing a burned-out light bulb can cause difficulties, because you have to disassemble and remove the entire structure. Various materials are used in the manufacture, the shade can be glossy, matte, of any color. Small elements are often used for decoration. The plafond itself can be made in different shapes: geometric (circle, oval, square) or more interesting (flower, crown, and so on).

By style of performance

  1. Classic. Eternally popular and familiar to everyone, the classics will organically look in a classic or country interior. There are many varieties: exquisite forged models, with an elegant imitation of candles, with chains or glass elements.
  2. Modern. This modern kitchen chandelier combines minimalist shapes with discreet shades. Such models will look great in the Scandinavian style, they will suit almost any design.
  3. Chandelier. Crystal is considered a traditional material for the manufacture of this lamp, but due to the high price, not everyone can afford it. It will be inexpensive to buy models made of glass or plastic. The candelabrum will look great in a classic or Provence style.
  4. High tech. These luminaires are usually ceiling mounted rather than suspended. They are made of plastic, glass and are designed in strictly geometric shapes and cold shades. These unusual kitchen chandeliers are suitable for a non-standard modern interior, photos of which are widely presented on the Internet.
  5. Floristics. These fixtures are usually made of wood or metal, often with glass or plastic inserts. Leaves, flowers or branches that decorate the structure make the appearance elegant. Such a chandelier will look great in country or Provence style.
  6. Eco style. The main difference between these models is the environmental friendliness of the materials used in production. Usually it is natural wood, fabric, paper. You can even make such a lamp with your own hands, it will decorate a room in an eco-or ethno-style.
  7. Minimalism. Here you will not find bright colors and unusual shapes, everything is done in a laconic and restrained manner. Simple models will fit into an apartment with a loft or minimalist design.

By color scheme

The most organic solution would be to opt for a lamp made of transparent plastic or glass. Such a chandelier will fit into any interior and will not attract attention.

If you want to focus on lighting, there is also a wide selection of colored kitchen chandeliers on the market. The dark color of the frame will contrast with the lighter shades. A bright detail will be a pink, blue or yellow chandelier for the kitchen. Such a detail can either become the only spot on which the eye will stop, or it can be in harmony with other details of kitchen furniture made in similar shades.

Nuances of choice

One of the most important features is the choice of location for the luminaire. Chandeliers for a small kitchen are usually located in the center of the room, because their light intensity is quite enough.

If there is a lot of space, then one light source will not be enough. You will need at least two chandeliers: one for the work area and one for the dining area. The lighting of the workspace can be decorated with a sconce made in the same style as the main light.

Chandelier and kitchen size

The luminaire should look organically in the interior, suitable not only in style, but also in the size of the room.

In a small kitchen in a Khrushchev building in Moscow, ceiling lamps will look better, because pendant lamps will take up more free space and make the space heavier.

For a narrow kitchen, pendant chandeliers with shades suspended on a long string are suitable. Depending on how much light you need, select the right number of shades.

Classic chandeliers and candelabra will look great in a spacious room. The splendor and elegance of such models will favorably emphasize the decoration of the kitchen.

Comfortable lighting - how to create it?

The lamp in the kitchen plays not only a functional role, but also is able to favorably emphasize the design of the room. Especially for you, we have prepared several tips, following which you can make the interior of your kitchen more cozy and warm.

  • save energy with dimmable luminaires;
  • lighting power should not be too high or too low;
  • for a dark interior, you will need more light sources and vice versa;
  • the working area does not have to be decorated with a chandelier; you can replace it with built-in lighting, spotlights or sconces;
  • in a spacious room, multi-level chandeliers, complex designs will look beneficial.

Enjoy the shopping!
