How to connect TV to the Internet via wifi: SmartTV settings, choosing a router for TV

In order to use the router, you need to enable the DHCP server in the LAN settings. If the TV is connected to the Internet using Wi-Fi, you need to have a configured wireless network.

If there is no built-in WiFi module, then you should purchase an external wi-fi adapter that will support IEEE 802.11a / b / g / n communication. It must be connected to the USB port.

There are two ways to connect your TV to the World Wide Web:

1. Using the cable. It will be connected at one end to the Lan-port of the router and the other to the TV. This requires a UTP cat 5 network patch cord. In order not to run the cable across the floor, you can buy two power line adapters (PLC), they will allow you to run the local network through the electrical one.
2. Via WiFi. You can connect in this way even if there is no built-in adapter. To do this, you need to purchase an access point that works in the same way as a WiFi client. Its cost will be about 600 rubles.

After the connection method has been selected, the following settings must be made, for the internet to work:

• The cable setting takes place in the menu. All brands of TVs have approximately the same connection method. Select the "network" section, then "network settings", then click "start" in the setup wizard. After a network connection appears, you need to select the cable one. Then the connection to the World Wide Web is checked and the IP address is determined. Next, check the connection by clicking on youtube.
• Setting up a connection using WiFi. The principle will be the same here. Click the "settings" icon in the menu. Then, in the same way as in the previous paragraph, to the "network setup wizard", select "wireless (general)" and click the "next" icon. Select the current one in the list of wireless networks. After that, you need to wait for the connection. If there is encryption in the settings, an access key will be requested. After entering the key, you need to check the connection using a browser. When the TV has WPS function, it will be even easier to establish a WiFi connection. On the router, you need to press the WPS button and select this item in the network settings wizard, then the TV will find the network itself and establish a connection with it.

SmartTV function

A simple internet connection will not be enough for this function to work fully. There are several ways to set up for different popular TV brands:

1. LG. Requires registration in the store, otherwise you will not be able to install all the necessary applications. Registration is not difficult, you just need to go to the main menu, in the upper right corner, find a button to enter your account, then go through authorization. After entering, you need to answer "no", in the window where additional information will be requested. The TV will now be fully configured.
2. Sony Bravia. Press the "Home" key on the remote control, then go to the installation menu (icon with the image of a suitcase), select "Network", then click on "Refresh Internet Content", after which the connection with server. At this point, Bravia will offer to return to the top of the menu. While holding down the "Home" button, this suggestion should be ignored. Select "SEN" on the remote control, after which the entire list of channels and the list of applications will appear.
3. SamsyngSmartTV. After connecting to the Internet, go to the SmartHub menu, which will be indicated by a separate button. Then check the connection using a browser. If everything works, then you can safely enjoy the applications from Samsyng Apps. In case of a network error, select "menu", then "network", then "network settings". Further, the TV will set up the Internet on its own. After completing the configuration, you only need to press the "start" button. If the attempt fails, it is recommended to visit the "Network Status" section and select "IP Setting - Receive Automatically". Next, connect to the Internet from your TV.
4. Even an older TV can be connected to the Internet. To do this, you need to purchase a special smart set-top box that will run on the OS Android. After connecting, you get a device that looks like a tablet, only a TV will serve as a screen. You can connect both a mouse and a keyboard to it.
