Correct connection of the antenna to the TV will ensure smooth operation on all channels. There are several types of receiving devices that differ in connection methods: outdoor, indoor and satellite. The first two of them are intended for receiving terrestrial terrestrial television and radio broadcasting.

Connecting antennas
The connection methods depend on the type of wave receiver. For example, satellite connection is carried out using screw solderless F-connectors:

Carefully cut the outer sheath of the cable (RG 6 or RG 59) at a distance of about 15 millimeters. - Untwist the ends of the braid and turn it off. The same should be done with foil.
- Expose the tip of the central core so that it protrudes up to 10 mm.
- Screw on the connectors securely.
- Cut off the center vein. It should protrude no more than 2 millimeters beyond the edge of the connector.
- Attach the cable securely to the connectors with heat shrink tubing or two layers of electrical tape, and then apply sealant.
Attachment can be done using the appropriate zip ties. There should be a margin near the antenna, so that you can easily rotate its mirror when aiming at the satellite. Then you should securely screw the connectors into the converter ("head") and into a satellite receiver or TV with a conditional access module, now you can configure them.
External wave receivers are also connected using the F-type connector. This method is now the most common. It is necessary to prepare the cable (see. above). The connectors should be screwed to the terminal on the antenna itself and to the adapter plug that will be inserted into the TV. To protect against negative influences all connections should be sealed, as well as the place where the cable enters the room.
The specific connection method depends on the design of the receiving device. It must also be matched to the cable and TV. This will achieve the best picture quality and prevent signal reception problems.
Practical advice
It is necessary to determine the location of the antenna. The length of the cable will depend on this. To install it inside the building, a hole should be drilled in the wall with a slope towards the street so that rainwater cannot seep inside. Sealing is carried out with a sealant most suitable for specific climatic and operating conditions.
The way the antenna is connected to the TV depends on its type. Avoid laying the cable near electrical wires and appliances such as transformers, computers, energy-saving lamps. Otherwise strong interference will appear when receiving analog channels. The antenna wire should also be free from physical stress, excessive bending and stretching.
Cable selection
It depends on how efficiently the signal will be transmitted to the TV. The most common brands are now:

Domestic - RK-75. It is a high frequency coaxial cable. The shielding braid and the center conductor are made of copper, the latter being about 1 mm thick. The top of the cable is covered with a black plastic sheath. It is used to transmit television and radio broadcasting signals in the meter and decimeter bands. It is not recommended to use for connecting satellite dishes because of the high attenuation that can weaken the signal at the frequencies used in this case. - Imported RG-6 and RG-59 cables are distinguished by the fact that in addition to the copper braid, aluminum foil acts as a shielding conductor. This allows you to use such a cable to connect not only terrestrial, but also satellite antennas. It features high bandwidth and low attenuation.
- Both of these cables have a specific characteristic impedance of 75 ohms.
Types of receiving devices
Outdoor antennas are used to receive terrestrial analog and digital television and radio broadcasting at a distance of 30 to 120 kilometers from a transmitter or repeater. They differ in a variety of designs. To improve the reception of weak signals, they can be equipped with amplifiers.
Indoor antennas are used to receive signals at a short distance from the transmitters, for example, in a large settlement. They can also be equipped with amplifiers. A feature of this type is that a special two-wire is used to connect to a TV set, with a matching plug and a characteristic impedance of 300 ohms.
Satellite antennas are made of a parabolic dish-like mirror, converter and brackets. Are fixed on the walls of houses. In the Northern Hemisphere, they are oriented to the south. The angle of their rotation depends on the geographical longitude of the place, and the angle of inclination depends on the latitude.
