Moving is always associated with many troubles. If the dishes and furniture can simply be packed and put in the car, then you will have to tinker with household appliances. For example, in order to properly and safely transport a refrigerator, you will have to be especially careful. When transporting it, you must follow the recommendations of the manufacturers, which will help prevent breakdowns and malfunctions.

Preparatory actions
The refrigerator is a voluminous and massive unit. During transportation, it is important to keep its body and internal structure intact, so that impossible without preliminary preparation:
-
The unit is disconnected from the mains, the food is taken out and defrosted. It is impossible to transport the refrigerator with ice, since it will flow when it melts.
- Take out and pack the shelves. To do this, use cardboard, bubble wrap, wrapping paper.
- The doors are rigidly fixed. They are tightened with carrying straps or wide tape. If the unit has two doors, then each is fixed separately.
- If a Soviet-era device is being transported, then its compressor must be secured. This is important even when the new installation site is very close. When transporting the unit over a long distance, the compressor is fastened not only to the old, but also to the new equipment. Transport bolts are used for fixing.
-
If the original box remains, then it is better to pack the refrigerator in it. Otherwise, the unit is wrapped in foil and covered with cardboard so that no scratches appear on the case during transportation.
- An old blanket or blanket is laid in the car, the unit is placed on it. To prevent the equipment from being damaged due to shaking on bumps or when braking, it is carefully secured with belts inside the body.
Whether it is possible to transport the refrigerator lying down is not so simple. For example, old refrigeration equipment produced in Soviet times has a peculiarity: it can only be transported in an upright position. And in order not to think about whether it is possible to carry the refrigerator lying down, you need to know that the answer will be positive only for units of a new generation, because in the case of an old device there is a risk of delivering a broken one on the road to the place technique.
Side transport
Sometimes there is no other way but to transport the unit in a car, and not in a large truck. About whether it is possible to transport the refrigerator in a lying position, the masters, as already mentioned, are unanimous in the opinion that this can lead to breakdown. But if certain conditions are met, you can take a risk, especially if there are no other options.

For such transportation, the following rules must be observed:
- Place the appliance with the door hinges facing up. This will prevent the door from coming off when shaking on uneven roads.
- Watch the compressor tube. During the ride, it should point up.
In order for the coolant to return to working condition, after installing the refrigerator in a new place, you need to wait 1-2 hours, and then connect it. First of all, this rule must be observed when transporting old refrigerators on its side or reclining.
The nuances of transportation and loading
Experienced craftsmen strongly advise you to follow the rules of transportation. There are the following recommendations:
- When transporting in any position, the housing must be carefully secured.
- The road should be chosen as level as possible to avoid potholes and shaking due to them. Sharp braking and jerks are also unacceptable.
Movers use a special trolley, onto which oversized equipment is carefully removed from the car during delivery. On the same cart, the refrigerator is taken up the steps (in the absence of an elevator).

When loading and unloading, do not take the refrigerator by the door, as it may come off.
Connecting the device after the street
The air temperature outside also affects the preservation of the integrity of the equipment. Experts do not advise to turn on the unit immediately., which was transported in cold weather. Let it sit for about two to three hours so that the internal device warms up at room temperature.
If this is not done, condensation may form on the nodes. In this case, when the device is turned on, a short circuit will occur, and all equipment in the house will be damaged. When the temperature inside the unit equals room temperature, it will turn on normally.
This applies not only to refrigerators, but also to all household appliances. If a washing machine, hairdryer, computer and other devices are transported in winter, then before turning on they must also stand in the room for 2-3 hours.
The same rule must be observed in the summer. If the refrigerator is transported over a long distance, then its body may overheat due to the heat, therefore, before turning it on, it is necessary that it stand for the same 2-3 hours and cool down a little.
Elimination of possible malfunctions
Improper transportation or loading may damage the refrigerator. Breakdowns can be as follows:
- Compressor seizures due to mixing of oils. The malfunction will resolve itself after a while, when the oil drains.
-
The pipes of the cooling system are damaged, the refrigerant has leaked. The signs of this breakdown depend on how many motors the refrigerator has. If the device has one compressor, then the malfunction will manifest itself in the absence of cold in the compartments, although the motor will work. If there are two motors, then a sign of a breakdown will be that none of the cameras freezes. To fix these problems, you will have to call the wizard.
- The compressor broke down due to inaccurate transportation with strong shaking. This is evidenced by the noisy operation of the device or the absence of cold in the chamber.
Sometimes, in the event of a breakdown, sound signals appear or a light starts flashing. In this case, the motor will have to be replaced as it cannot be repaired.
Special care should be taken when transporting the refrigerator, especially if it is being transported lying down. Otherwise, equipment that broke down during transportation can be delivered to a new location.
