In the near future, analogue television broadcasting will be completely stopped in Russia and a transition to digital format will be made. This is due to the fact that digital television transmits better picture and sound, and such broadcasting is free. To receive a signal, you need to purchase a DVB T2 set-top box, an antenna for receiving digital television, and the image can be displayed on any TV.

Antenna types
Over-the-air digital television requires an antenna capable of receiving such a signal. Unlike analog television, where electromagnetic waves are transmitted in the meter range, digital wave signals are measured in decimeters. Therefore, such devices are characterized by smaller parts.
By the way they are located antennas are:
- outdoor;
- room;
- hybrid.
Before deciding on the choice of the type of TV antenna, you need to find out the location of the transmitting source. If it is located nearby and the windows face it, then it will be possible to purchase an indoor digital antenna.
Otherwise, for good reception, it is better to install it on the roof of the house. For outdoor use, simple devices made from a set of aluminum tubes of different lengths are well suited. Moreover, the increase in size goes from the end to the base of the structure.
Receiving devices for premises
There is an opinion that indoor antennas for digital television should be special, with intricate shapes. Especially this fact is often used by advertisers of enterprises producing such products.
The more details of an unusual shape there are on it, the higher their price, and in practice they are often of no use. In the area of a powerful signal, a simple piece of coaxial cable, the length of which is not more than 20 cm, is sometimes enough to receive all 20 channels of digital television. In this case, the television signal will be stable, and the image on the screen will be of excellent quality.
And also electromagnetic waves of digital television can be successfully received using a simple decimeter antenna made in the form of a small loop. By the method of receiving the signal, there are the following devices:
- active;
- passive.
Passive designs work only for receiving waves and transmitting them to a digital receiver. Active antennas have a signal booster to work in a weak signal area. Power can also be supplied via the antenna cable to the device directly from the DTB T2 set-top box.
An antenna with an amplifier for digital TV should be used only with a weak signal, otherwise it, on the contrary, will degrade the reception quality.
Popular models
According to statistics, antennas from three manufacturers are currently most popular: Hama, Remo, Harper. They account for more than half of the total sales volume. Therefore, when choosing which antenna is needed for digital TV, you can confidently turn to the products of these companies. Some models in detail:
- Hama 121650 is a small active antenna for indoor reception. The range of received frequencies is from 30 to 950 MHz. Thanks to the built-in switch, it can be used without an amplifier.
- Harper ADVB-2440 is an outdoor construction designed to receive signals at a distance of up to 30 km. It has a small size and can be installed directly on the wall of a building. And also well suited for use in a country house.
- Remo Belka is a hybrid device that can be used both outdoors and indoors. It has the shape of a small box and operates in the wavelength range from 470 to 892 MHz.
We can also mention such models: Remo Groza, BBK DA 15, GALAR-468 AW, etc.
Homemade products for digital television
Sometimes there are times when there is no way to buy an antenna, but you want to watch TV. Such a device can be easily assembled at home. do it yourself. This requires a minimum of component parts.
To make the simplest design, you will need an antenna cable, a sharp knife, a shoebox and tape. It is necessary to cut off two pieces of 0.5 m long from the cable. Make two loops in the form of a figure eight of them and attach them to the box lid with the ends towards each other using adhesive tape. At the bottom of the box should be glued food foil as a screen.
The end of the cable, which will be connected to the workpiece, must be stripped of insulation to a length of 7-10 cm. Then the central copper core must be connected to all the wires of one side of the figure-eight, and the small copper braid wires must be twisted into a bundle and connected to the other side of the antenna.
Install a plug on the other end of the long cable and connect to the receiver. Such an antenna is usually used in indoor conditions, placing it on a windowsill.
In the same way, you can make a street structure by making two square contours from a copper tube or wire.
But the simplest outdoor device can be made from two half-liter tin cans. To do this, it is necessary to prepare a T-shaped holder from rails or thin boards. Screw both banks to the upper bar with a wire and then connect the central core to one bank, and the copper braid to the other.
The quality of signal reception with such structures cannot be guaranteed, but they can be successfully used as temporary antennas.
