It is safe to say that in these parameters, such bulbs are in the lead among the rest.
In particular, therefore, diode tapes are used not only in everyday life, but also in the creation of commercials, showcases and signboards, for illuminating artificial reservoirs and pools, and even for tuning cars.
It should be noted right away that diode illuminators can be used to illuminate not only the ceiling, walls and floor, but also some interior items, for example, arches, shelves and niches. And some especially creative people even decorate furniture with lamps.
Varieties and their features
Diode light sources require correct positioning. Only in this case, you can really get high-quality lighting. Mostly they are divided according to the way of organization:
- contour light;
- multilevel arrangement;
- spot illumination;
- directional lighting.
Installation of LED backlighting by the type of contour light is carried out using special tapes that emit bright, colored or multi-colored light. Under directional lighting, the light bulbs give out diffused light. In addition, all of them can be installed in furniture fixtures.
Such bulbs can be used as the main light, but then it is required to select devices with a high brightness level in order to increase the intensity of the glow. The local version implies such an arrangement so that the lighting elements participate in the zonal division of the room, while they must snatch out of the darkness only individual areas.
Besides, diode lamp is divided into types:

- tape.
The latter option is also divided into two types. In the first case, the ribbon has only one color, and in the second, the garland emits a multi-colored glow. Such devices usually operate from a dedicated control panel.
It is also worth noting that there are various radiation options. The most popular are SMD 5050 and SMD 3528. In addition, tape types differ in the number of diodes per meter of length, there can be 30, 60, 120 and 240 pieces.
The larger the quantity, the brighter the light will be, but for residential premises it is recommended to use tapes that have no more than 120 elements.
Installing tape on the ceiling
Before starting the workflow, you need to prepare all the tools and materials. First, it is worth deciding on the type of lamps and the power supply, which can be 12 or 24 V. In addition, some lamps need a special controller. Further, having measured the total area of the room, you need to determine the required length of the tape.
The power of the power supply should be more than that of the lighting device by about 20-25%. To determine the supplied load, it is necessary to multiply the power indicator of 1 meter of the LED strip by its total length. Then cut a strip of the required length, adhering to the special markings from the manufacturer. It is strictly forbidden to separate the material in another place, this will lead to its breakage.
There are two ways to install such lamps: by gluing or fixing on a profile. For the first case, it is necessary to carry out a number of preparatory work, in particular, to thoroughly clean the place where the tape will be attached: the material will not sag for a long time on a dirty surface.
The second option is more reliable, and heat dissipation will be more efficient. For installation, you will need flat head screws. The lighting strip is glued to the surface, which must be degreased in advance, and then fixed with prepared screws.
Backlighting with the effect of the starry sky
You can make unusual lighting that will decorate the room and give it mystery. To implement such an idea, single lamps will be required. It is best to select models with different intensities.
The connection diagram is carried out through the power supply, as with the tape. It should be noted right away that this option can only be done on a plasterboard ceiling.
The installation work itself is carried out as follows:
- A plasterboard slab is cut out, which exactly repeats the dimensions of the ceiling niche. In addition, you will need elements that duplicate the shape of the transparent plates to decorate the front side.
- Then the wires are connected.
- The garland is mounted in the ceiling niche.
For a more interesting design, you can stick pictures with the sky, stars or the moon on transparent plates. In this case, the "star" ceiling will look more realistic.
