Dowel-clamp for fastening cables made of plastic and metal: application, properties, advantages and disadvantages

For safe use of the power supply system, the wiring must be carried out in compliance with the rules provided by the technological conditions. In the process of performing the work, a plastic dowel-clamp is used to fasten the cable using special tools. According to the type, fasteners are divided into two groups: with a metal and plastic dowel.

Cable laying technique

When working with electrical equipment different cable installation techniques are used, providing reliable fixing of the material to any surface. Fixation of the wiring is carried out with devices of various shapes and installation methods. There are several types of devices on the consumer market:

1. dowels (spacers, staples and with a platform);
2. clips;
3. bandages;
4. clamps;
5. homemade wire clamps.

Depending on the category, the fixing dowel-clamp used to fasten the electrical cable has both positive and negative properties. Device characteristics are determined

the degree of reliability, safety and practicality.

Mounting methods depend on the surface where the wiring will be laid: concrete, brick, wood. To complete the installation work, you will need a hammer drill, screwdriver or drill. If a hidden electrical wiring is made at the facility, then the cable is placed in a groove, under panels, a stretch or suspended ceiling. The hidden cable does not spoil the design of the room, does not interfere with the decoration of the ceiling and walls.

With the open method of installation, the fastening clamp is fixed to the supporting structure. For a brick or reinforced concrete surface, the fixing process consists of a number of operations:

1. drilling a hole;
2. installation of a dowel;
3. cable clamp in the bracket;
4. securing the mounting bracket.

The workflow is fast and easy. The use of a plastic device allows you to quickly dismantle the electrical or telecommunication wiring system.

The fastener design contains a plastic insert and a clamp to fix a single wire line to an existing cable. The processes of the device system and accessories can be performed in one step without the use of a screwdriver or drill.

Installing the clamp "bracket"

Fastening of the "bracket" type refers to a simple version of the product, which is a strip of up to 8 mm wide made of polypropylene or elastic plastic. The serrated ends of the strips are cone-shaped. The length of the clamp is selected according to the diameter of the flat cable, the fixing of the device is carried out in two stages:

1. drilling a hole;
2. the cable is threaded into the bracket until it stops;
3. fixation in increments according to the readings of the surface strength of the object.

The length of the bracket-type fastener reaches 6-25 mm. The product is available in three colors: white, gray and black.

Clamp fixture

The design of the fastener is a plastic or polypropylene embedded part with a spacer bar and a clamp. Installation of the device is carried out after drilling a hole in the capital surface, placing a dowel, followed by installing a spacer bar between the fasteners and gripping the cable, corrugated or smooth hose, plastic pipe small diameter.

The permissible force effect on the structure is 8 kg. To increase resistance to loads, it is recommended to use solid cone or arcuate dowel. The reinforced version of the device is installed directly into the hole and hammered all the way into it. The laying of parallel pipes or cable bundles is carried out using a clamp with two arcs.

Fixing dowel "screed"

A clamp with a dowel, or a dowel-tie for attaching a cable, is a universal device. The design of the device contains directly the part and the clamp. When assembling the fasteners, the two halves of the device are fixed with a special latch, the cylindrical body installed in the hole, secured with a plastic spacer screw, the wire is tied after tightening ribbed plate.

Unlike conventional clamps, the cable tie has an additional hole for a screw designed for installing the device on the surface of the ceiling or main wall. The main drawback of the part is the inability to release or shift the cable without destroying the structure. A broken tie cannot be reinstalled.

Fastening pad for wire

Nylon, plastic or polypropylene mounting platform with rectangular clamp head is designed for laying pipes, bundles of cables or hoses. It is mounted on a solid surface as follows: a dowel with a platform is placed in the hole through which a fixing metal or polymer clamp is threaded, a pipe or bundle is laid wires. The advantages of the device include quick and easy installation, the ability to place several telephone, television and electrical cables on the site.

Advantages of dowels, disadvantages of clamps

Simple and cheap the device has a number of structural advantages. They are economical, as they consist of one piece, are easy to install, durable due to the material of artificial origin.

The device is not destroyed by ultraviolet light, can be repaired, has an increased bearing capacity, can be operated at an ambient temperature of -40⁰C... + 85⁰WITH. The disadvantages of the device include deformation from high temperature and the need for additional decorative design.

Fastener material

In the manufacture of a dowel clamp for a cable, galvanized steel and brass are used, as well as three types of polymer GOST 26998–86: nylon, polypropylene, polyethylene.

Nylon, has high mechanical properties, withstands significant physical exertion, can be operated at a temperature of pipes with a coolant up to +85⁰C, does not stretch when heated.

Polypropylene is recommended for indoor installation due to its high UV sensitivity.

Stabilized polyethylene does not withstand mechanical stress, degrades over time.

The metal dowel clamp is used to fix heavy cable bundles when installed on the surface of dense materials. The universal fixture is fixed with MUD or FMD self-tapping screws. The metal product is available in several versions of the clamp:

1. "bug";

2. with tape;

3. with wire tape.

In the manufacture of the fastener, galvanized steel or brass is used. In the process of choosing a product, it is recommended to focus on the regulations of TU, ​​GOST, DIN or the European ISO standard. When performing installation work, the degree of coverage of the cable with a clamp is taken into account.

If the wire diameter reaches 5 mm, a dowel of the same size is used, for a bundle of wires, a model with a diameter of 19 mm is suitable. The length of the clamp is selected according to the diameter of the electrical cable and can have dimensions from 10 to 45 mm.
