The classic of Bolshevism V. AND. Ulyanov (Lenin) argued in 1920 that communism is Soviet power plus the electrification of the country. Soviet power has sunk into oblivion, but electrification has remained. The transmission of electricity by wire continues to play a significant role in the life of society. To provide mobile devices with electric current, a KG power cable is used.

Design features
The KG cable is designed to connect mobile devices and mechanisms to an electrical power source. The line is used for non-standard laying in premises, by land, in fresh water and by air.
The wire consists of stranded copper conductors, the number of which varies from 1 to 5. If the number of conductors is more than two, then one of them is thinner. A ground loop is connected to the thin line. The diameter of the conductors varies from 1 to 240 square millimeters.

The conductive line is covered with rubber insulation of the RTI-1 or RTI-2 type, made on the basis of natural or butadiene rubber. A layer of polyethylene terephthalate shell is located between the metal and rubber.
The outer protection is made of isoprene rubber. The outer rubber insulation is separated from the wiring harness with a synthetic foil.
Letter marking
KG cable is manufactured according to the Russian standard TU-16. K73.05−93, which complies with the European standards IEC 245−1. The name of the KG cable has a decoding - "flexible cable". The oil resistance and incombustibility of the rubber insulating layer is indicated by the letter "H" at the end of the marking.
Sometimes the name contains a hint as to what climatic conditions the wire is intended for. Model KG-T (tropical) is used at temperatures ranging from minus 10 to plus 55 degrees of ambient air. The KG-HL version (cold-resistant) remains operational at 60 degrees of frost. KG-U cable is designed to work in a temperate climate, where the temperature ranges from plus 40 to minus 40 degrees Celsius.

The letter "C" in the abbreviation of the name indicates that the wire has a core of polyester compounds in a rubber sheath. The letter "P" means that the conductors are wrapped with polyethylene terephthalate film. On electrical diagrams drawn up decades ago, there is the old name of the cable - KRTP. The decoding means that the cable is rubber-sheathed, heavy and portable.
The product labeling indicates the number of cores and the cross-section of the wire. If there are two digital blocks, then the first describes the conductive lines, and the second represents the parameters of the zero bus.
For example, KG 3 * 4 + 1 * 2 has three conductors with a diameter of four millimeters and one wire with a cross section of two millimeters.
Technical specifications
When installing and repairing electrical units, professional electricians take into account the parameters of the wires used. Technical characteristics of the KG-HL cable:
- When working in a direct current network, a voltage of 1 thous. volts, for alternating current with a frequency of not more than 400 Hz - 660 volts.
-
The ambient temperature with a humidity of 98% should not exceed +50 C or fall below -60 C.
- The permissible heating of the working current-carrying conductors is not more than +75 C, in the overload mode +90 C. A short circuit in the network brings the temperature to +200 C.
- Insulation winding resistance 50 MOhm.
- The bending radius of the cable is equal to 8 outer diameters of the wire.
- A conductor with a cross section of 1 mm can withstand a breaking load of 19.6 kg.
- Service life is not less than 4 years.
The weight and diameter of the outer section of the cable depends on the brand of the product and the number of wires.
Areas of use
The technical features of the KG wire determine the area of its application. When installing an electrical network on the street and indoors, rubber conductors are indispensable for a short time. A flexible cable is used to lay temporary communications at the construction site, to connect welding machines and movable mechanisms.
The product is widely used on sea and river vessels, tower and bridge cranes. The water resistance of the cable allows you to supply electrical energy to submersible deep-water pumps.

Manufacturers in Russia
The practical and versatile cable is in demand among industrial professionals. The demand for KG power cable is satisfied by Russian enterprises:
- LLC "KamKabel".
- RybinskKabel OJSC.
- GK "Sevkabel".
The Perm company "Kamsky Kabel" meets the needs of the largest construction sites in Russia. Enterprises of the energy complex, shipbuilding and aircraft plants are among the regular customers of the Ural enterprise. Almost 50,000 wire brands make up the product range. The company's products are in demand on the territory of the former USSR states, and are known in European and Asian countries.
Rybinsk Cable Plant occupies a leading position in the market. The enterprise produces one kilometer of cable products in 10 minutes. KG cable is one of the bestsellers. The quality of products complies with international requirements ISO 9001: 2008 and Russian standards GOST ISO 9001−2011.
"Sevkabel" counts its history from 1879. Now the holding, headquartered in St. Petersburg, provides high-quality products to all key sectors of the Russian economy. The company's clients include the Ministry of Defense, state corporations Rosatom and Roskosmos.
In places where electrical regulations prohibit the use of conductors with standard parameters, KG comes to the rescue. The wire, which is unpretentious and capable of working in harsh climatic conditions, is loved by professionals in electrical work.
