One of the main elements of the electrical network for all industrial and residential premises is wiring - these are wires and cables. During installation, two types are used: hidden (laid under a layer of plaster) and open. According to the existing rules for the operation of electrical installations of consumers, the wires passing through the structures and walls of the premises must be protected from mechanical damage. One way to protect networks is to use a plastic wire box.

Varieties and use of boxes
Cable duct (also known as cable) is a channel widely used in the electric power industry as a way of laying wires and cables. This method does not contradict the rules. The box fits perfectly into the interior, does not spoil the appearance of the room. The profiles produced by the industry allow you to arrange wiring of any type and configuration. The electrical box has many varieties:
-
wire;
- plinth;
- parapet;
- angular;
- trunk;
- floor;
- perforated;
- flexible.
Cable ducts can be made of rolled wire, stamped metal sheets or plastic.
By design, a PVC box is a profile. It is based on a groove, in which the wires are directly laid, and a quick-release cover. Available in various sections from 12 mm. The advantages of such designs include:
- simplicity and ease of installation;
- the ability to quickly access the wires during operation due to the design of the cover;
- the ability to apply to various types of wiring.
The box has found its use not only for electrical wiring. This element is widely used in the installation of video surveillance systems, fire alarm systems, telecommunications. According to the rules of technical operation, it is not allowed to lay wires of secondary networks (telephone, Internet, various types of signaling) in the same bundle with power ones. Cable channels with partitions come to the rescue. Such a profile consists of two or more chambers, separated by partitions, which makes it possible to lay wires for different purposes in different chambers.
You should pay attention to such a type as a plinth plastic box for wires. In fact, this is a plinth, in the cavity of which a channel is hidden. It conveniently fits Internet cables, communications, antennas. Thanks to the variety of choice of colors, you can successfully combine the interior of the room with a matching skirting board.

Floor. It is used to protect floor wires. It does not interfere with movement due to its oval shape, it is beautifully combined with parquet and linoleum.
- The most common for use is a parapet box. Most often used in residential and industrial premises, offices. An example of application is the creation of office systems, wiring to office equipment, devices for creating a microclimate (air conditioner).
- Perforated. Based on its configuration, it has a low weight and, accordingly, lower cost.
- Flexible. By its design features, it can be used for laying cables over uneven surfaces. In cross-section, rectangular and circular are produced.
- Angular. This shape is very convenient when laying wires on the ceiling or along a vertical corner.
Elements for profiles
All plastic boxes for electrical wiring can have elements of various shapes and purposes in their sets:
-
turns;
- external and internal corners (45 and 90 degrees);
- transitions from a larger section to a smaller one and vice versa;
- staples for joint joints;
- stubs;
- partitions for separating cables;
- boxes for installing switches and sockets.
Many types of profiles allow installation switches and sockets directly on the surface of the box, making up with it one whole link.
Methods for mounting a plastic conduit for wires
For installation, you must first of all decide on the choice of a profile, based on the purpose of the wires, their number and cross-section. Having chosen the type and length of the profile, mark the route of the gasket using a cord and a pencil. The way of fixing the box depends on the material of the surface to which it will be attached. Wood screws are well suited for wood and drywall. For walls made of brick, concrete, cinder block, you will have to drill holes for nylon dowels, followed by fastening with self-tapping screws.
After carrying out preparatory work, remove the protective cover from the plastic box. Fasten the profile to the bearing surface through the existing holes, using transition elements as necessary. Lay wires and cables in ducts appropriate for their purpose. Close the channels with latch caps. Install sockets and switches as required where provided. Install the plugs on the ends. For boxes made of white PVC plastic visible gaps in joints and corners, if any, can be sealed with white silicone or sealant. The track is ready.
