Buying a new electric stove brings a lot of joy to the hostess, especially if the new stove has a lot of unexplored functions. But when connecting, the inherent question arises of how to install it correctly, connect it, take into account all the nuances and subtleties. The electric stove is a source of increased energy consumption, and to connect it to the network, you will need a special line and socket for a 220 V electric stove.

Varieties of power outlets
Installing an electric stove necessarily includes the stage of connecting it to the power grid. In some cases, a specialist is called for this procedure, but more often they cope on their own.
In order for the new equipment to serve a long time and not cause unnecessary problems, you need study all safety rules and requirements to install it. Particular attention is paid to choosing a power outlet for an electric stove.
A regular outlet will not work, it is not designed for such an amount of electricity, and after a while it will simply heat up, melt and fail, and can also create a fire hazard. For such high loads, connectors are used that are reassigned to connect consumers over 8 kW and more.
All socket options available on the market differ in color, material, shape, installation option and power capacity. As a rule, the purchase is made in a set, the plug and socket are bought together, from the same manufacturer. Sometimes they come with a stove.
According to the material of manufacture, they are made of plastic and carbolite. The second option is black and cheaper. Plastic ones are presented in white colors, they are of good quality and a high level of resistance to the external environment.
There are two installation methods:
- For surface mounting where the main body is positioned on top of a wall.
- Indoor installation, in this case, the installation is carried out on a socket box deep into the wall, and the plug for the electric stove with a cable also goes deep into the wall, into the outlet. This option is optimal, but much more difficult to install.
3-phase high-power socket for electric stove is used for installation in houses and apartments, which are provided with a three-phase power network. And also they are like with or without grounding contact. You can find one, two, and three-phase power networks, depending on this parameter, a choice is made.
Connector technical device
The power connector, which is designed to withstand heavy loads, is used to connect powerful household appliances. It is capable of passing a large level of current.
To connect such a connector a three-core cable is used, which includes phase, zero, and ground. If we compare it with a simple outlet, then a three-pin one is capable of transmitting multiples more voltage, from 25A and above.
Consists of a contact mechanism, decorative strip and fastening elements.
Correct installation of the socket
The question of its installation arises in different periods, this can be both the end of cosmetic repairs and the beginning.
Initially, it is required to determine where the electric stove will be located, if the model, its dimensions and technical parameters are known, the problem of selecting an outlet and cable will not arise. The electric point can be positioned at the level 100 millimeters from the floor.
Next, we lay the power line from the dashboard to the kitchen. We take the cable with a minimum cross-section 6 mm² and only copper, which is produced in accordance with GOST. A separate power line is due to the fact that a separate machine in the dashboard is required for its prompt operation in the event of an abnormal situation and the failure of any component.
Wire laying is regulated set of rules SP 31−110.2003; point 9.2. According to him, there is a clear prohibition on connecting additional energy consumption elements, such as sockets, lamps, switches. For a single-phase network, a wire with three cores with a cross section of at least 6 mm² is used, and for a three-phase network, a five-core wire.
Having selected the required wire, it is required install protection on this line. For this, a 32 ampere circuit breaker is installed in the switchboard. And after it, a 40-amp residual current device is installed to take additional measures. The combination of these measures will protect the living space from fire and damage to property in the event of a voltage surge or melting of conductive contacts.
Choosing the best location
When choosing the location of the outlet for the stove in the kitchen, it is worth considering the requirements and safety rules.
And also according to the rules, the stove must plug into the socket without extraneous connections. The most convenient option is to install it behind the stove or in a closet nearby.
It is forbidden to install:
- Under the sink, due to the risk of moisture ingress.
- Behind the washing machine.
- Near the dishwasher.
- Above the slab itself and in the immediate vicinity.
After choosing a stove, you need to study the documentation carefully manufacturer and equipment of the device. Often, the manufacturer completes his stove with a connection kit.
If you decide to carry out the connection yourself, then you will need the appropriate tools and materials themselves for work. Before starting work, the line needs to be de-energized and check that there is no voltage.
