Convenient electrical switch-automatic, familiar to modern people, did not always exist. A few decades ago, it was replaced by a batch switch. This device was used to distribute energy. However, having a relatively short service life, the bag gradually ceased to be used for domestic purposes. But in production, its use is still relevant.

Design and types of burst switches
The device got its name due to the design features, which is based on a certain set of packages, that is, separate sections. Package switches and switches are divided into several types:
-
Disk. The commutator discs are mounted on one axle and are a single device. The casing is made of electrical insulating materials, has grooves for contacts and is equipped with an arcing chamber. In the center there is a washer, also made of electrical insulating material, on which the electrodes are placed. Several of these elements are located on a metal axis, with the help of which the bag is actuated.
- Cam. On the body made of electrical insulating material, there are movable and fixed contacts, which are supported by springs and are located on guide pins (insulators). They rest against a movable washer, on which grooves are made for these insulators.
In both types of switches, the axle is equipped with a plastic handle, which allows the axle to be rotated, driving the apparatus. Switches are also classified according to the following features:
- The degree of protection of the internal structure against environmental influences. There are sealed bags, protected and open.
- The junction of the panel and external cables of the device. A distinction is made between front and rear connection.

Until now, all types of bags are used in production. But, despite the variety, they all have common technical and operational characteristics and similar disadvantages.
Advantages and disadvantages of the device
Electric circuit breakers have been popular for many years. This is due to a number of undeniable advantages:
- The size. Due to its compactness, the device is easy to install and easy to use.
-
The rate of extinction of the electric arc. The bag is designed very rationally, therefore, both its shutdown and arc extinguishing are carried out almost instantly.
- Resistance to mechanical damage. The device is difficult to break, it does not suffer from vibration and perfectly withstands mechanical stress.
- Simple maintenance. The switch does not require any special maintenance. It is enough just to inspect it in a timely manner, clean it from dirt and replace it if necessary.
- Wide range of applications. The devices can be used in various conditions. They operate at temperatures ranging from 40 degrees below zero to 60 degrees Celsius. The bags with a sealed body are resistant to high humidity and dust.
The disadvantages include a relatively short service life. It largely depends on the condition in which the lugs of the fixing washer are. When the main part wears out, the bag will fail.
In addition, the electric bag device does not provide for an automatic de-energizing system in case of overloads. These devices cannot be repaired.
The principle of operation of the device
The principle of operation of the bagger is quite simple.: When the handle is turned 90 degrees, a spring is tensioned and acts on the washer. The body locks help to stabilize it. Then the movement is transmitted to the contacts and they, depending on the initial position, close (current begins to flow) or open (current stops flowing). The rotary burst switch only works in on or off mode. The cam device can be programmed, the switching of the contacts depends on the position of the bag itself.
The design feature is that the terminal of the switch is usually not isolated, therefore, when connected, it is energized. When replacing the device, turn off the current completely.
Main areas of use
A batch switch is manually operated device. It is designed to turn on and off (commutation) a low voltage load current. In the modern world, sachets are widely used in various electrical installations of industrial enterprises. They can be used to start electric motors for lifting and ventilation devices, conveyor drives and the like.
Often, devices are used as a power element to disconnect the load of power circuits, as well as in distribution boards of industrial premises and on control panels. A packet switch is also needed for the emergency input of the reserve voltage, that is, when the load is switched from one supply circuit to another.
The popularity of bags is gradually decreasing, but the production of these devices has not been discontinued. Fast response and reliability help to keep packet switches in demand in today's electrical market.
