Infrared heaters differ in installation methods, operating methods and prices. They are more economical and are used in different types of buildings and structures. These models are very popular nowadays. The restoration of the indoor microclimate to the desired temperature is carried out quickly. With the help of rays emanating from the device, heat is transferred to objects in the room. Installation of heaters is carried out on the ceiling, walls or under the floor covering (in the form of a special film). All types of devices are externally different, and the principle of their operation is almost the same.

Advantages of thermostats
To reduce the consumption of electricity, the ability to control, maintain a given temperature in a building while releasing heat, various types of thermostats are used. All of them are freely available for sale.
If the devices are installed without using a thermostat, the energy efficiency of the device is reduced, since when calculating the rated power for a certain volume of the room, the power is taken, which makes it possible to heat the room in the most severe frosts. When the temperature outside the window rises, the device works continuously using all its power.
The need to include the thermostat in the electrical circuit to the device is not only cost-effective, but also allows you to select a mode for customization required temperature in the building.
The principle of the sensor
The thermostat is based on a thermostat that performs the function of closing and opening electrical circuit depending on the temperature controlled by the sensor, or biomechanical plate.
As the room temperature rises, the resistance of the sensor changes downward. When the resistance of the set level (equal to the selected temperature) is reached, the regulator turns on and the electrical circuit is opened. After that happens gradual decrease in room temperature, the resistance of the sensor changes upwards, the regulator is triggered again, the electrical circuit is closed, i.e. the heater turns on, and the installed in the room is maintained temperature.
Thermoregulators are mechanical and electronic, devices have the following characteristics:
- Mechanical thermostat is a small plastic box on the front side of which a mechanical regulator in the form of a circle is installed. With the help of the regulator, you can change the temperature. The temperature change is within +5... 30 ° С. In different models, the scale of division may differ from +1 ° С to +2 ° С, etc. A switch and an LED indicator are installed on the case, indicating that the device is on.
- Electronic thermostat has more functionality than mechanical and is more complex equipment. The device is equipped with a liquid crystal display. Control, depending on the model, is carried out both using buttons and through a touch device.
Types of electronic regulators
The devices are divided into 2 groups: programmable and non-programmable.
Time setting is available to the user in programmable devices. It is possible to set the interval when it is necessary to heat: people leave the premises, and the thermostat can maintain the temperature at a predetermined level.
There are electronic models on sale with the ability to control from a distance, i.e. remotely using a smartphone. For this purpose, a special application is installed on the smartphone. These devices are very expensive.
Installing the appliance
Regardless of the type of option chosen, for the correct operation of the device, when connecting it, you must select a suitable place for its installation.
You need to pay attention to the following factors:
- direct sunlight should not fall on the device;
- installation near heat sources is prohibited;
- height up to 1.5 m from floor level;
- insulating material is laid under the base of the thermostat (this is required to exclude incorrect determination of the temperature in the room from the cold wall);
- one regulator is installed in one room;
- high humidity is harmful to the appliance.
Otherwise, temperature measurement will not correspond to the actual temperature in room. Heating for the selected temperature will not be possible.
Connection diagrams
It is worth considering the diagrams for connecting infrared heaters through a thermostat, a simple diagram will help with this (Fig. 1, 2). There are 4 terminals in the thermostat: input - neutral and phase, output - neutral and phase.
Connecting one heater:
- from the circuit breaker installed in the switchboard, connect a two-wire wire (0, L1) to the input terminals of the regulator (0, L1);
- the regulator output terminals (0, L1) are connected with a two-wire wire to the heater.

Picture 1
Connection of 2 heaters: connection to the first heater is carried out in the same way as above, the second heater is connected in parallel to the first.

Picture 2
A complex scheme (Fig. 3). Connecting multiple heaters:
- the regulator input is connected to the network;
- regulator output terminals (0, L1) are connected to the coil of the magnetic starter;
- Several heaters are connected from the switched contacts of the starter, depending on the rated current of the starter, the maximum number of connected heaters can be calculated.

Figure 3
The above connection diagrams are suitable for different types of heating devices mounted on walls and ceilings.
Features of a warm floor
A heater installed under the floor covering is connected differently.
A special film is laid under the floor covering. This type of device is called "warm floor". For control heating the film, thermostats with a temperature sensor are connectedlocated at a distance from the instrument. The sensor is mounted next to the foil in the floor. The thermostat itself is installed at a height of more than 0.5 m.
It is not necessary to install insulation material under the base of the regulator. Temperature control is carried out by a remote sensor installed near the floor. The thermostat has 6 terminals. To two terminals in the same way as in the above version (in Fig. 1), a two-wire wire is connected to the neutral and phase from the switchboard, the "warm floor" is connected to 2 other terminals, and a remote sensor is connected to 2 more terminals.
