Requirements for the connected wiring
Modern appliances are usually sold without cables.
For connection it is necessary to use a cable cross-section of 4 mm², if the length does not exceed 12 m. using longer wires, the minimum cross-section is increased to 6 mm². In this case, it is necessary to install a separate outlet specifically for the stove.
Plug-in connection is permissible. It is only necessary that the device is designed for the network. Electric stoves consume a lot of energy, so it is forbidden to connect them to simple household ones.
Thus, the requirements for connecting the plate include the following provisions:
- For connection, a three-core copper cable with a diameter of 4 to 2 mm² is used, depending on the cord.
- An automatic machine for the stove is installed in the electrical panel.
- Installing an RCD is important.
Preparation for installation work
Before connecting the electric stove, you need to select, what will be its location in the kitchen space. To do this, you need to follow simple rules:
-
The installation position should be comfortable.
- The length of the cable should be chosen in such a way as to freely move electrical appliances from the wall, if necessary, without disconnecting it from the network.
- Users should be aware that a preheated pan can heat up to 100 ° C, so the stovetop should not be placed next to the refrigerator.
- When installing in kitchen units, it is necessary to protect the plastic panel from overheating during the operation of the appliance.
- It is better not to place other electrical appliances in the immediate vicinity of the stove - the electromagnetic field will affect the quality of their work.
- When choosing a place, the decisive factor may be the ventilation zone, which should be located above or behind the hob in depending on the used hood configuration.
Electric stove connection diagram
Before proceeding with the installation of the device, examine the existing wiring connection of the device..
Single-phase self-connection
The most common option. Most often found in multi-storey buildings. For a single-phase connection, the junction box will look like this:
- Terminals 1-2-3 and 4-5 are jumpered, copper 6 mm². If you have purchased a modern
stove, the set will include a lintel.
- The lived phase (can be gray, brown or black) is connected to terminal No. 1, 2 or 3.
- The neutral wire (usually blue) is connected to the 4th or 5th terminal. Ground wire - in the diagram it is yellow-green and connected to the 6th terminal.
- The terminal bolts must be tightened to the stop. In case of poor connection, the terminals can burn out and cause a fire.
- In the case of using a socket, the connection of the phase conductor to the plugs and sockets is connected to the terminal L, the neutral wire goes to the terminal marked with the letter N, and the ground wire goes to the desired terminal.
Application of a two-phase connection
Rarely, but still there is a two-phase connection. For example, there could be phase A and C. Therefore, terminals 1 and 2 must be jumpered to connect phase A. Phase C goes to Terminal 3. The further connection procedure remains similar to the previous methods.
Using a three-phase connection
Three-phase power supply is most often encountered by owners of a private house. The supply wire in such a situation will consist of 4 or 5 cores. The voltage between zero and phase will be 220 V, and between phases at 380 V.
In such conditions, the oven will be connected to the appropriate circuit. Phases A, B and C will move to their respective terminals 1, 2 and 3. Connection terminals 4, 5 and 6 are similar to single phase connection.
Installing an electric stove
To install an electric stove you need a copper wire with a large cable section 3 × 4 or 3 × 5. The presence of an electrical panel on the ground is required. It is strictly forbidden to connect other devices to the electric cable. Be sure to check the quality of the wiring, the RCD, the presence of induction. Replace the socket if necessary. Then you need to check the phase between the ground and the phase supply of the plate - the readings should be up to 4-10 ohms.
Remember that the cooker manufacturers are not responsible for damage to your health or property caused by improper installation of the equipment. Therefore, it is more rational and safe to contact professionals.
Specialists have all the necessary skills and approvals required when connecting such equipment, and connection certificates from manufacturers.
Installation of electric stoves on the floor
Before connecting the device for the first time, it is important to install it on a flat surface.. The place for this must be level; if necessary, the stove can be adjusted with special legs. In addition, if necessary, there is a special area for embedding this device into a worktop.
At first glance, it seems that it is easy to do this work and there is no point in hiring a master. However, as practice shows, it is hardly possible to do without professional help, since often connecting the device requires additional installation of a separate outlet and conducting wiring to her. A good professional will help in the shortest possible time to connect the selected stove model, and in a few hours you will be able to start cooking.
Service is inexpensive. By paying once, you save yourself from unnecessary hassle and possible accidents. Indeed, when installing kitchen equipment, you may not follow the technology.
Do-it-yourself plate installation
The connection procedure remains the same for networks with a different number of phases. There are some nuances that you can learn about below. The connection will be made through the socket.
Work order:
- Choose a place to install the appliance. Electricity consumers are classified as high power consumers. To ensure its safe operation, a grounded socket outlet is installed on the wall closest to the slab. In this case, the current value of the socket should be 32-40 A. The socket for mains contacts will be one, two and three-phase networks.
- Install a separate circuit breaker in the panel. If the network is two- or three-phase, the tri-band switch is installed at 16 A, but in the case of a single-phase network, the breaker rating should be from 25 to 32 A.
- Installed wire connection for an electric stove. In two- and three-phase networks, a 5 × 2, 5 cable of the VVGng brand is used, for connection in single-phase mode, a 3 × 4 cord of the same brand is used. Pull the wire from the electrical panel to the socket of our appliance.
- Connect the wire to the outlet according to one of the above diagrams. Close the outlet cover. We work very carefully, observing the standards. If the connection is made using a three-wire cable, then the brown wire may be white, connected to the phase connector. An electrical outlet is mounted, a blue wire (can be white with blue stripes) passes the "zero" connector, and a yellow-green mine is connected to ground. Five-wire wire cable is most often colored brown, white and red. The order of their connection, as well as the peculiarities of the brand of socket connectors, were previously considered in the description of the circuits.
- Connect the plug to the flexible cord device. In this case, it is necessary to pay attention to the features of the marking plugs. The connection element is similar to an electrical outlet.
- Connect the wire to the stove. At this stage, a lot depends on the device model and the number of phases in the network. In general, manufacturers provide a wiring diagram for their plates and additional instructions or on the back of the unit. Follow the manufacturer's prescribed recommendations.
- Tingling ends of flexible wires are recommended prior to installation in the terminal block - it will be provided with the most reliable contact.
- Divide the power cable of the instrument in the panel where the ends of the wires are balanced. The phase conductors of the supply cable are connected for laying the clamps. Shaft "zero" is connected to a common bus, for all conductors it is equal to zero. In modern systems, these wires are connected to a ground bus. Older TN-C busbar networks have no earthing.
Instrument Grounding Guide

When working in networks of the old type, even specialists often made mistakes, performing grounding in various electrical devices on the working zero buses. Such a retreat threatens with very unfavorable consequences: if the wire breaks zero, the phase will pass through the load directly to the device, and will be shocked.
Often, electricians make the next blunders, tangling the phase and zero wires. When starting such a "grounding", the result will be similar to the previous case - the owner of the stove can be electrified at any time. There are several solutions to the problem. Review the available methods and choose the one that suits your situation.
Is there a grounded shield in the apartment
To do this, we go to the housing office or service organization. If the representative says that the shield case is reliably grounded, we only need to connect the yellow-green wire to the frame through the bolt.
If the representative gives a negative answer or gets confused in the readings, perform grounding as described above is impossible - it either turns out to be ineffective, or will lead to an electric shock current.
For residents of ground floor apartments and home owners
Landlords may try to create a separate ground loop. And they do it:
- Behind the outer wall of the building, a steel rod with a diameter of 16 mm and a length of 250 cm in the amount of 3 pieces is driven into the ground.
- The drive rods are connected by a steel strip 4 cm wide and 0.5 cm thick.
- With the help of an electrical panel, a ground (yellow / green) wire and a pre-terminated lug are created.
- From the grounding circuit to the grounding wire, a wire is pulled - a rod. The recommended diameter of such a wire is 0.8 cm. At the end, a steel plate with a bolt hole is pre-welded. The earthing cable is bolted to the wire rod plate with a minimum height of 250 cm from the ground.
- The ground cable is connected to a separate ground bus in the shield. Connect the ground wire from the plate to the bus.
Before taking the grounding device into operation, you must invite a master to measure the resistance. You can perform such a check yourself only if you have the necessary device. The resistance value should always not exceed 8 ohms.
If it does not come out to ground
The shield is not grounded, but there is no way to make an individual ground loop? Leave just the green and yellow wires in the shield.
All elements must be grounded according to the rules. Violation of the rules may result in a breakdown of the device, the risk of electric shock and damage to property, and not only it, but also the adjacent territory.
Before you independently engage in connecting the device, you need to call the service center and find out how much this work will cost. You will be able to get rid of many problems associated with time-consuming and unusual work.
