Cable RKGM: structure, application and technical characteristics of the wire

Wire use

The cable is suitable for laying high-power electrical lines in areas with temperate and hot climates. The installation electrical wire is manufactured in accordance with GOST 16039−1979 and belongs to the MSTP category, denoting a series of heat-resistant installation wires used for outdoor wiring.

The strength of the wire is provided by several layers of insulation and winding. Silicone rubber gives strength, so the cable can withstand pressure loads, breaks, and, if necessary, bends easily. The braid materials are not damaged by heating. Reduced or increased pressure of the surrounding space does not affect the functionality of the product, the technical characteristics of the wire remain at the required level.

Fungi and mold do not grow on the surface of the wire, and moisture does not destroy the outer sheath. According to the current technical conditions, the wire is a single-core or multi-core product. In accordance with the classification presented in GOST 22 483−1977, its central copper strand was assigned IV flexibility class.

The standard regulates the cross-section of the core or the aggregate indicator of the areas of thin conductors that make up the base. For example, for a wire with a cross section of 1 mm², the maximum cross section of each wire should be 0.31 mm², but only if the core is made up of three conductors.

Certain letters are used in the designation of the RCGM cable. Their decoding shows the following:

The current-carrying conductor as part of the cable is protected by two non-metallic sheaths. Twisted wires in a common braid give the wire durability under extreme conditions. This design of the RCGM should not be confused with a multicore cable., in which each conductor is enclosed in insulation and is a separate independent element.

Silicon dioxide does not degrade at high temperatures. If the external insulation burns out during a fire, the remaining silicon oxide layer will act as a dielectric. The material has a melting limit at a temperature of +1710 ° C, has great rigidity and strength.

The coating of the wire, unlike the PVC sheath of other electrical cables, does not react to solar radiation. The thickness of the protective layer depends on the section of the product and is in the range of 0.6-2 mm. The fiberglass casing is impregnated with a composition of organic resins and glyphthalic varnish, which makes it possible to withstand heat up to 250 ° C and resist shock loads.
