For many, installing a switch in an apartment is an incomprehensible task. However, this is a fairly easy job - even for those who have never done it. Before installing the device, you must choose the one that is suitable in a specific situation and will perform all its functions correctly and in full. Next, we will find out what is needed in order to complete these works.

Types of switches and their installation
They are divided into only two types:
-
Outdoor devices - these are installed especially in houses and buildings made of wood, where the wiring runs along the wall, and is not implanted inside. They are used in country houses, baths, sheds or rooms where installation of the second type is impossible.
- Internal installation - their use will preserve the interior and at the same time improve the function of the room. In apartments, if necessary, the standard openings of the display units can be moved to a convenient place.
Different types of breakers are installed in different ways, so different situations need to be considered.
Outdoor appliance
Thanks to, which is absent in this form the need for gated work, the installation is quite easy. The cable is attached to a wall or ceiling by placing it in a plastic box that protects the wiring from external influences. Installation is carried out in the following sequence:
-
First, you need to lead a phase conductor to the installation site.
- Turn off all electricity to avoid unwanted consequences.
- If the walls of the room are made of combustible materials (wood, plywood, etc.) ), it is necessary to lay a gasket of fire-fighting material between the wall and the cable box.
- A phase conductor and a wire leading to a chandelier or lamp are connected to the inside.
- The base of the shut-off mechanism is attached to the gasket, wall with screws or self-tapping screws.
- The switch button is installed last.
After all this, you need to enable electrical energy in the room and check the functionality of the installed device.
Indoor electrical appliance
For this procedure, you cannot do without tools, since it is necessary to make holes and grooves to install all the necessary cables and the switch itself. In order to install internal fittings, the following fixtures and tools are required:
-
A hammer drill or an electric drill, depending on the wall material.
- Special nozzle for drilling technological holes for the switch.
- Hammer with chisel, for gouging grooves in drilled holes and wall for wiring.
Necessary materials:
- The electrical appliance itself, it is necessary to select it so that it fits the display unit.
- The typesetter. They differ in the fastening of the switch to them.
- Copper two-core wire.
- Spatula and putty.
- Two screwdrivers: indicator and conventional.
Sequencing
First you need to choose a place for the future dimmer. Usually they choose a place close to the exit from the room, at a height of about 1 meter above the floor. You also need to take into account the location of the junction box, from which the wire will go to the lamp or chandelier. In the most junction box you need to find "0" and a phase wire.
To do this, you will need to use an indicator screwdriver, which will allow you to determine if the wire is energized. If the lamp lights up when you touch the bare wire, it will mean that the phase is found, if not, then it is "0". This operation must be done with the electricity turned on and be extremely careful, except for a screwdriver, do not touch anything to the wires.
Then it is necessary to de-energize the room by turning off the switch in the switchboard to safely lead the wiring to the switch.
Depending on whetherhow the switch is arranged, the sequence of actions will differ. For example, in the case of installing an internal switch, it will be necessary to make a strobe before turning off the electricity, the depth and width of which should not be more than 25 mm. There should be no more than 3 meters from the proposed switch to the junction box, this is due to the electrical conductivity of the wires.
Also, at the installation site, a recess is made for the panel holder using a perforator (drill) with a special nozzle. The recess is freed from an extra piece of the wall by strong blows of a hammer on a chisel. The resulting hole is filled with a box and fixed with putty.
To the student is supplied two-core wire, the contacts of which are connected at one end to the "phase" in the junction box, and at the other end to the lamp holder or chandelier.
The core of the mechanism is installed in the box, to the terminals of which wires are fed and fastened with clamps or fasteners. After this, the groove in which the cable is laid is sealed with plaster putty, you can also use a cement mortar, but then it is better to additionally insulate the cable for reliability.
The device is equipped with retractable legs, with the help of which it is firmly held inside the display case.
At the very end, a decorative overlay is installed, it easily fits into the interior, especially if matched by color. And finally, the button for turning on the light can also be made in a certain style.
After that, you need to turn on the electricity, and, if everything is done correctly, when you press the button, the light will turn on in the room.
This example looks at installation of a one-button switch. The installation and the principle of operation of two-key models are slightly different.
Installing a two-key mechanism
Two-key mechanisms are used in order to be able to adjust the intensity of lighting in the room. For example, as a standard in the hall of an apartment, a chandelier has 3 or more lamps. With a two-rocker switch, you can turn on half lamps or all at once as needed. Such switches can also be flush-mounted and surface-mounted.
There is only one difference in the installation compared to the one-key. Instead of a two-core cable, a three-core cable is used. One core is a "phase", and the other two are led to different lamps in the chandelier or to different lighting fixtures - in principle, it depends on the imagination.
