Sometimes cracks may appear in the wall of a garage built of bricks: one or more. Cracks are small, which do not spread further. But there are also quite large cracks that threaten the entire structure. Of course, brick faults are not only a cosmetic defect. You can’t ignore them, but you need to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Reasons for the appearance
Before embarking on restoration work, the cause of cracks should be found. Most often, it lies in violation of the technology of work at the construction stage, namely, the problem may lie in the foundation. The foundation under the wall may burst due to shrinkage of the structure or improper pouring. In this case, the seal of the crack will give only a short-term effect. To achieve a positive result, it is necessary to carry out laborious work to strengthen the foundation, which will prevent its further cracking.

Roof leakage or seasonal rise in groundwater can cause cracks, which also leads to undermining of the foundation.
Process monitoring
Experts also recommend that you install monitoring for a crack in the wall to find out if it is increasing in size. The procedure is as follows:
- The crack is thoroughly cleaned of dust and dirt, plaster residues.
- Plaster beacons of not more than 5 mm thickness are installed in the fault at a certain distance.
- Beacons are monitored for three weeks. If there are no cracks on the lighthouses, it means that the foundation is in normal condition, and cracks in the wall were formed from the shrinkage of the garage.

Than and how it is easier to close up
Such cracks can be repaired independently, observing the sequence of works:
- The crack cavity must be cleaned of dust and rinsed with ordinary water;
- After drying, the crack is covered with a primer to the maximum possible depth;
- The cavity is filled with cement mortar (brand at least 500) or sealant. A not very wide vertical crack can be blown off with foam. But the foam must not be allowed to come into contact with the environment. Therefore, the hardened foam is cut off, and coated with plaster or mortar on top.

This work will remove the visible crack on the brick wall of the garage, but does not guarantee the emergence of new faults over time.
