Very often, at the beginning of repairs, we encounter such a problem as the old layer of paint on the walls. To continue the repair, you should pay attention to the nuances when removing the old oil plaster from the walls. Otherwise, the repair undertaking will fail.
There are several ways to remove the old oil plaster:
- The use of chemical solutions.
For this, a special wash is used. All that is needed is to apply the mortar to the wall with old plaster and wait a couple of hours. You can do your business at this time. In the end, you just need to remove the remnants of the old oil plaster, but do not forget to protect your eyes, hands and respiratory organs!
- Use liquid glass.
It is necessary to cover them with the desired surface. When it dries, it is covered with a thin film. You can easily remove it together with old plaster.
- Homemade plaster remover.
You can not spend money, but do everything yourself. You will need quicklime (1.2 kg) and 0.5 kg of calcium. All this is mixed with tap water and applied to the wall with old plaster. After 12 hours, a positive result will appear.
- Thermal method.
The dye on the wall you need is heated by a hairdryer to the temperature of the lesion. This method is proven and effective. After heating, bubbles and bulges appear on the surface - this means that the paint has melted and can be removed with a spatula.
- The mechanical way.
For this method, you need to choose the tool that you will work with. You can take an ax and ordinary water. An ax is applied to the paint plane with an ax, and then abundantly wetted with water. Within 5 minutes, water impregnates the surface of the plaster, after which it is cleaned off with sudden movements, turning the tool almost parallel to the wall surface. But this method is suitable for wooden surfaces.
For other surfaces, you can use an electric drill or grinder. But there will be a lot of dust from the grinder. Therefore, it is better to use a drill with nozzles. A universal option is a grinding wheel.
Old concrete plaster can be removed from the concrete surface with a simple drill.
