When the plaster begins to peel off on the walls in the room, and even worse, crumble - this is a signal that it is time to think about repairing the walls. Where to start and how to end, you will learn by reading this guide to the end.

Causes of plaster shedding
In fact, there may be several reasons why this happens:
- Use of poor-quality solution;
- Violation of the technology of plastering;
- High humidity in the room;
- The plastering of the walls was carried out at low temperature.
All these factors must be considered when proceeding with the repair.
Some try to prevent further plastering with plasterboard. Such a solution is acceptable only as a temporary measure, which is not able to solve the problem of crumbling walls.
To solve the problem of shedding radically, it is necessary to make a complete replacement of the plaster. Before starting work, care must be taken to ensure that the furniture and floor of the room are reliably protected from repair waste (furniture should be removed if possible).
Necessary tools
- Hammer;
- Chisel;
- Ax.
If the layer of plaster is very thick and durable, it will be necessary to use a puncher.
The order of work
It is recommended to start plaster removal always from the top corner. Because after the corner is freed, it will become easier to separate the plaster from the wall. If the plaster was made of sand or lime-sand mortar, the separation process will be quite easy. If cement is added to the mortar, some efforts will have to be made to completely clean the walls of the plaster.

If the plaster is applied in a small layer, it should be removed by prying it with an ax or a chisel. It is necessary to place the tool not perpendicular to the wall, but with a slight tilt to prevent damage to the wall. In this position, the plaster will be removed quite easily.

Important! Regularly wet the walls with water. So the dust will settle to the floor faster.
If possible, it is recommended to use a respiratory dressing, or a respirator. It is not difficult to make a bandage yourself.
When the plaster coat is removed, first apply the primer to the wall. And only after it dries, apply a layer of plaster. If there are small cracks in the walls, it is recommended to strengthen them first with a special mesh (this will prevent the appearance of new cracks), and only then apply a new layer of plaster.

If there are large cracks in the walls, you will need the help of a specialist to determine the cause of their occurrence. And only after that it is decided how to repair these cracks - whether to use cement or some other materials.
