What to do so that the joints do not disperse

Wallpapering the wall is not the most difficult technical process, but proper docking presents certain difficulties. It also happens that the gluing process is over, the wall looks perfect, and after the strip they begin to diverge. Most problems arise with vinyl and paper wallpapers. Why is this happening and how to avoid such trouble?

Wallpaper structure

Vinyl and paper wallpapers are based on paper fibers, which swell when soaked and decrease when dried. With quick drying, the area of ​​the wallpaper sheet is reduced by about 2%, while the sheets do not have time to adhere normally. For this reason, gaps occur between the joints.

Other causes of clearance:

• Poorly prepared walls;
• Not prescription dilution of glue;
• The impregnation of the sheet is either insufficient or excessive;
• The desire to quickly dry the wallpaper: open windows, temperature increase in the room;
• Incorrect pasting technology.

Rules to help prevent splitting

Under the wallpaper, the wall is prepared using putty and primer. The first aligns the wall and makes the base smooth; it removes small defects: scratches and indentations, which are best seen at the joints. Primer reduces and evens surface absorption.

Moreover, if the wall is smooth, then there is no need to putty it, but the primer is used in any case. Primed with either an acrylic compound or glue for wallpaper, diluted in the proportions specified by the manufacturer.

Glue gets divorced proceeding from the basis of wall-paper. Dry powder is poured into water, on the contrary it is impossible to do. The heavier the wallpaper, the more concentrated the composition should be.

The impregnation time of the wallpaper is as important as the rest of the preparation. It is always indicated on the package, it must be strictly followed. The lighter and thinner the canvas, the less time it takes for impregnation.

The approximate exposure time of the wallpaper in the process of impregnation:

• Lungs - about 3 minutes;
• Light heavy - from 4 to 8 minutes;
• Heavy - from 9 to 15 minutes.

With an increase in the allowable time, the wallpaper sheet soaks, can break, and increases several times. After drying, joints appear on the walls. With insufficient impregnation, other problems arise - overlaps and wrinkled coatings.

Open windows for wallpaper are harmful because, due to drafts, the sheet dries too quickly and shrinks harder. Joints also appear from here.
