One of the high-quality and comfortable floor coverings in the apartment is a laminate. It has a lot of advantages, including a low price and ease of installation.

/

Composition, description

Laminated board consists of four layers. The lower layer, balancing, gives it rigidity and partial water resistance. The second carrier layer is fiberboard or HDF (high-density fiberboard). The third layer is a decorative coating, and the fourth is a protective film of acrylic resin.

/

By its strength and wear resistance (and, accordingly, durability), the laminate is divided into classes marked with two numbers. The first digit (2 or 3) indicates for which premises this material is intended (respectively, residential premises or public premises). And the second digit indicates the degree of its stability. The larger the second digit, the stronger the laminate.

Laminate floor installation

Installing laminate flooring is very easy. The fact is that each laminated board has a groove of a certain shape at the end on one side, and a protrusion repeating the groove in shape on the other. There are two types of castle. The first view is a hook lock that hooks one panel over another.

/

This type is used most often. The fact is that during installation there is no need to exert any effort, the “hook” easily fits into the groove. In addition, if replacement of individual coating sites is required, this type of connection is also easily dismantled. The second type of connection is more labor intensive, and requires each panel to be driven into the groove of the other panel with a bar and a hammer, using glue. Accordingly, this type of coating is not so easily dismantled.

/

The base for the laminate can be completely different, the only requirement is that it must be even.

Pre base is leveled. If it is concrete - then with leveling mixes, if a wooden floor - then with a grinder.
Waterproofing is laid on a leveled base, with an approach of about 50 mm on the walls, individual sheets of waterproofing are hermetically bonded to each other with construction tape. The next step is laying the substrate, which is designed for noise absorption, insulation and masking irregularities.

/

The last step is directly laying the laminate. It is usually carried out along light rays, which visually masks the seams between the panels.

Laying usually starts from the left corner of the room. The first panel is placed with a spike against the wall. The second is latched from the end, so is the first row. Each subsequent row is recommended to be laid with some mixing, for example, with bricks, cutting the extreme panels to the desired size. To maintain the distance between the laminate and the wall (1-1.5 cm), spacers of the right size are attached to the walls. After laying, the pegs are removed and the slots are closed with skirting boards.

/ Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:
1. A wide selection of colors;
2. Affordable price;
3. Ease of installation;
4. Sufficient resistance to external factors;
5. Does not need special care.
Disadvantages:
1. He does not like water;
2. Low noise isolation
3. Not environmentally friendly;
4. It has low resistance to open fire.

/

Conclusion

Today, moisture-resistant and waterproof types of laminate are available, which can be used in bathrooms and in the kitchen. To achieve noise isolation, in fact, is not difficult with the help of an additional layer of the substrate. Laminate, although not 100% environmentally friendly, however, does not harm health during operation. Thus, if desired, disadvantages can be minimized, and positive qualities will remain there.
