The best way to masonry aerated concrete blocks

If cellular concrete (aerated concrete) is used as the material for the walls of the house, then the question may arise before the master: what is the best way to lay blocks than to fasten them. This question can be answered by comparing the advantages of two types of solutions, which are usually placed on aerated concrete. Masonry can be cement and adhesive. The type of solution must be determined at the stage of procurement of material and design of the building.

Types of masonry

Laying blocks on a cement-sand mortar for a long time was the only option for building walls. The advantage of cement mortar is that the mortar layer can reach up to 2 cm. due to the thickness, it smooths out irregularities in the shape of the blocks. But at the same time, the construction will require good thermal insulation.

When laying on glue, it is desirable that the blocks have a regular and even shape. The glue layer is very thin, so the structure has excellent thermal insulation.

In financial terms, it may be more profitable to put blocks on cement, but only if it comes to outbuildings. For a residential building, it is better to use special glue.

Masonry technology

The accuracy of the masonry of all subsequent rows depends on the correctly laid blocks of the first row. Laying starts from the corners, giving the blocks an even position with the help of a level. The first row is placed on the cement mixture to even out the differences in the foundation. Next, the calculation of the blocks is carried out in one line.

After laying the first row, the roughness of the blocks must be removed with a special grater and wiped the surface with a wet brush.

All other rows are placed on the glue, covering the mixture with the entire lateral and lower surface of the blocks. The thickness of the seam should not exceed 3 mm.

Particular attention should be paid to the jumpers that are installed above the door ceilings, windows, internal and external walls. The jumper must have at least 20 cm of support on the block at each end.

Partitions inside the building are being erected simultaneously with the external walls. This will achieve good bond strength using dressings. For greater stability, metal hooks are laid inside the partitions. There should be at least three wall heights.

To ensure the reliability and durability of the building service, it is necessary to make high-quality horizontal waterproofing. Walls are better protected from moisture with the help of roofing material or oilcloths, which need to separate the load-bearing walls from the foundation. After this, a vertical waterproofing is made, which is connected to a horizontal one.

Reliable dressing is made between the internal and external walls, and the window sill area is necessarily reinforced with reinforcement.

For a residential building, the best way to lay cellular concrete is with glue. This option allows you to build with a minimum thickness of the seam, therefore, it does not allow the formation of cold bridges and increases the thermal insulation of the entire structure.
