Laying drywall on the walls is an effective method of preparing the work surface for further finishing work. There are several ways to fix drywall panels. One of the simplest is sticking. But I must admit that even with the high-quality performance of all work, the effect sometimes disappoints. What does a similar method look like and what in reality does it give?

When can drywall be glued
Drywall panels are best laid on brick and block walls. If you do not use drywall, they will have to be plastered, and this is a very time-consuming undertaking. Gluing drywall takes less time, does not require serious effort. Concrete walls can also be covered with this material, but only on condition that the surface is not too curved.

Preparation for gluing drywall panels
To drywall firmly fixed, the wall must be cleaned and degreased. For cleaning, you can use a normal soap or soda solution. If large bulges are found on the wall, they should be cut off. Noticeable cavities - fill with plaster composition.

Before sticking, you need to wait until the wall is completely dry, and also treat it with a primer. This is especially important in the case of block walls, which are very active in absorbing moisture.
Sticking plasterboard panels on the wall
To fix drywall, use a specially designed mixture, and ordinary tile glue. The selected composition is applied in the form of a lattice or a snake on the back of the sheets. Next, the panel is applied to the wall and pressed across the entire area. If you can’t cover the entire wall from floor to ceiling with a continuous sheet, you will have to lay the panels apart in full rows. Although, whenever possible, horizontal seams should be avoided.
The adhesive will gain strength in about a day. It is advisable to grab the sheets with self-tapping screws to the rough base. The seams remaining between the sheets are filled with putty before decorative work. It is necessary to smooth it so that it does not protrude.
The disadvantages of this mounting method
The main problem is that drywall installed in this way does not compensate for strong elevations. It should also be borne in mind that glued drywall can move away from the surface over time. Then it is deformed and will only be kept on self-tapping screws. So, it is definitely not worth laying heavy materials on such lining.
