Transporting the refrigerator horizontally
Household appliances have to be carried when buying or moving. If you do not have a large truck with a high body, you will have the question - is it possible to transport the refrigerator lying, and not in a vertical position? What do specialists say about this, but what do manufacturers recommend?
At one's own risk
Opinions are different. Manufacturers of refrigerators are reinsured and categorically insist that the transportation is carried out only with the preservation of the vertical position and certainly in the original packaging. Any other methods, if they lead to damage to the unit and caused the need for repair, are considered non-guaranteed case. That is, if the transportation of the lying technician deteriorates, you will have to repair it at your own expense, even if it is completely new.
But if you ask masters for repair of household appliances, whether it is possible to transport the device in this way, they will answer that it is possible, but it is necessary to carry it in compliance with certain rules.
Similar rules exist also for those cases when you need to transport a washing machine, which manufacturers also recommend to put in a body only in an upright position. In fact, it is mono to do at any distance, if you fix the transport bolts and put the unit on the front side, laying under it a soft layer of rags or foam rubber. Preliminary it is necessary to drain the water and dry the inside of the device.
How to transport a refrigerator lying down
Unlike a washing machine, you can carry it only on your side, and not on any. From above there should be that side, on which the oil pipes of the compressor come out. Usually, the hinges of the door are also located on it. Categorically you can not put the device on the back wall, this will lead to its failure.
The door must be securely fixed, for this use thick tape. The best way is to fix the compressor so that it does not hang out on the way. In the factory packaging there are special materials for this, and if you are already transporting the already used equipment, you can fix it with the same scotch tape. The main thing is to ensure maximum immobility of the heavy device.
If you lay the refrigerator on the other side, the oil from the compressor can get into the circulation system. In the most unfortunate cases this can lead to breakage, but usually you just have to wait a few days until the oil flows back into the compressor.
Under the device you need to lay a soft blanket, a thick layer of cardboard or polystyrene. It is desirable to fix the unit so that it does not swing and does not shake during transportation. Try not to go too fast, driving around the potholes and not driving at corners.
When carrying to the floor, it is necessary to bring it to the ladder so that the compressor is behind.
After delivery to the destination, the unit must never be switched on at once. He must stand still for at least 6 hours, and it is better to leave him alone for a whole day.
The longer and more bumpy the road, the more time you need to give the technician to stay. If after this you have to tilt it again and move it again, it will take some time for settling, but already much less - no more than 2 hours.
Masters involved in the repair of domestic and refrigeration equipment, consider: transportation in a recumbent position is permissible. But it is desirable, that in the horizontal position the device was no more than half an hour. That is, if you need to carry it for long distances, it is better to find a transport providing the necessary conditions.
According to statistics, out of every 10 cases when owners decide to transport the refrigerating cabinet in the "horizontal" position, problems do not occur in more than 1-2 of them. And then they are usually caused not so much by the situation, as by the lack of fixing the compressor, by rough handling and loading, by jolting along the way. Usually everything does without breakdowns. Yes, this is a kind of lottery, and only the owner of the technology choose the mode of transportation.
Of course, before transportation, the unit, which was already in use, must be completely unfrozen, washed and dried. Remove all removable parts and pack them separately. If you carry all household goods, you can put pillows and blankets wrapped in polyethylene inside the device, and you can place bales with soft things on the sides.
