Updating the parquet floor yourself

Parquet flooring is expensive. But then, such a floor covering is the most high-quality and environmentally friendly. Like any floor, parquet is sometimes necessary to update and repair. Consider how to do all the work yourself and without involving specialists.

There are two effective and simple ways to restore the former beauty of the parquet floor. Each of them is suitable for a different type of wear.

Method number 1

Giving the original shine and beauty to a parquet floor covering that has slight scratches and scuffs.

For this type of work, the use of looping is not required. Troubleshooting is carried out using a conventional grinder. We will need to perform the following procedures:

• Initially, it is necessary to completely free the room from furniture. Then, thoroughly wash the floor. After cleaning, let the coating dry completely (within 3 - 5 hours);

• Next, you must remove the paintwork. To do this, we use a grinding machine with coarse sandpaper. In the course of work, it is necessary to replace sandpaper with finer grain;
• Now we again need to carry out wet cleaning and let the floor dry completely;
• We pass to the final stage. If there are gaps on the floor, they must be well lubricated with sealant. Next, we proceed to coating the parquet with varnish. Each layer must be allowed to dry thoroughly. A two or three layer will be enough.

Method number 2

Updating parquet that has significant damage.

The main emphasis is on the use of special puttying compounds for parquet boards. The work process includes the following actions:

• We process damaged floor elements with sandpaper with coarse grain to remove paintwork;
• We process the damaged plank with putty;
• After the putty dries, we again process it with fine grain sandpaper;
• Next, we cover the restored section of the floor with varnish in several layers.

When applying the second method, you should adhere to the basic recommendations for surface restoration specified in the first embodiment.

Doing all the work slowly and with a responsible approach, you can easily return your parquet to its original original beauty.
