Wood-fiber sheets or, as they are also called - plates, are a material often used in construction work and in the manufacturing process of furniture sets. They are distinguished by strength, durability, ease of installation and attractive price for many consumers.

Improper material placement can cause deformation. Therefore, before installation, it is worth carefully familiarizing yourself with the existing errors, which will avoid repeating them.
Lack of protective coating
Often, this building material is used as a reliable base for the laminate. It allows you to cushion the surface, insulate it and prevent damage that may result from strong pressure.
Not everyone knows that finished wood-fiber boards require additional processing. When laying the material under the laminate, it should be protected and the internal and external surfaces treated.

The external glossy surface can be painted. It should be remembered that DVL requires 3-4 times more coloring composition for processing than other building materials with similar characteristics. This is due to the porosity of the plates.
To reduce the amount of paint for processing should be pre-primed the surface of the sheets, allowing the composition to completely dry. The inner rough side is not painted, but it is recommended to treat it with a special primer.

Most often, drying oil is used for priming wood-fiber boards. This tool can be found in any hardware store at an affordable cost. When using drying oils, the composition should be heated to 40 degrees, which will ensure uniform application.
When choosing drying oils, it is recommended to give preference to not a combined composition. Thanks to this, it will be possible to significantly reduce the drying time and prevent the occurrence of an unpleasant odor in the room.
What can deform a fiberboard?
Long-term exposure to moisture can deform wood-fiber sheets. The disadvantage is that it is almost impossible to notice. This can be accidentally spilled water on the surface of the laminate, which, seeping, will adversely affect the fiberboard and change its structure.

In this case, it is recommended to additionally treat the sheets of material with water-repellent compositions, which will prevent their destruction even in the event of moisture.
