Coating preparation
Before starting work, you need to prepare the surface of the ceiling. It should be perfectly smooth, because any defects will cause the tiles to not adhere firmly to each other, creating unaesthetic gaps.
Protruding irregularities should be removed with a grinder or grinder. In this case, the choice depends on the type of defect and the estimated scope of work.
Small hollows or cracks should be filled with putty, leveled and thoroughly soaked with a primer after drying. After priming, the surface should dry completely, and therefore work is recommended to be carried out the next day. It is important to remember that it is impossible to rush during repairs, because often rush becomes the cause of defects and the need for their costly elimination.
How to glue PVC tiles on the ceiling
After the ceiling has dried, its surface must be marked using a laser or hydraulic level. It is preferable to use a laser, because the work will be carried out above eye level, and therefore workers may not notice minor deviations that the hydraulic level can show.
When marking, you need to use thin cords that extend from one corner of the ceiling to another, dividing it into four sections. Thanks to this approach, the work can be done in stages and not to worry about the occurrence of irregularities when laying tiles.
The first four tiles must be glued in the center of the ceiling. Thus, each tile will be located in a separate sector. The remaining fragments need to be adjusted close to them, which will get rid of unaesthetic joints.
At the same time, it is worth remembering that it will be possible to completely get rid of the joints between the PVC tiles only if you use putty selected in tone. Alternatively, sealant may be used.
The joints are filled with the indicated compounds, after which their excess is removed, and the surface is leveled. This approach will create a perfectly even ceiling without visible seams.
