How to level a floor screed without a rule

Before directly leveling the floor with cement, it is necessary to clean the treated surface from dirt. Dust, paint, construction debris and spilled liquids can all affect the quality of work. It is also necessary to cover cracks and large holes in the floor with plaster or cement mortar.

After the preliminary work is completed, begin to mark on the wall the maximum height to which you need to pour the cement mortar. For this, a laser or ordinary level is used. After the height of the future floor is measured, mark this place with a pencil or felt-tip pen. As a rule, professional craftsmen do not flood floors more than 10 cm.

Before installing the self-leveling floor, it is necessary to carefully ground the floors in several layers with a primer. After waiting for the complete drying of the liquid, it is necessary to install profiles-beacons. They will inform the master what level the mortar is to be used to level the floors in the room. Metal beacons should be installed around the perimeter of the room so that their top the part was at the level where the marks on the wall had previously been made with a felt-tip pen or a pencil.

The distance between the beacons should be minimal if you plan to level the floors without a rule. Approximately 40-50 cm between metal rails will be optimal.

At the base of the slats should be placed, at several points, mortar or gypsum. The last building material is preferable to use, because in the air it freezes almost instantly. The distance between such attachment points must be at least one meter, otherwise the profile will bend and the floors will be curved.

After the T-shaped slats are laid over the entire area of ​​the room to be repaired, you can proceed to direct floor leveling. To do this, prepare a large bucket or bath to prepare the building mixture. Next, pour cement or a cement mixture there and add water on top according to the instructions on the pack. After this, mix the solution immediately. It is preferable to use an electric drill with a special mixer nozzle for this. In its absence, you will have to interfere manually.

Prepared building material should be poured evenly on the floor until the cement layer reaches the top of the beacons. To level the floors, in the absence of a rule, it is possible with improvised means, for example, taking an even wooden block or a laminate of sufficient length. You can also use a spatula with a working surface width of at least 30 cm.
